"You just cauterized it"

So I was cooking last night, during my haste I sliced my thumb while cutting up jalepenos. Nice size slice, bleed for a bit. Finally got it to stop and was grating cheese. Lost focus and grated my same thumb. Different spot at least but man did it hurt. Worse than the slice. Got it to stop bleeding and continued working. Now I have been known to make poor decisions while cooking/eating but not putting a bandaid on might take it for this one.

What I didn't realize was that my friend had been cooking in the oven 5 minutes before I got there. So when I went to grab the oven rack. Boom, massive burn on my thumb. After a string of expletives. My friend goes, looks at it and says... you just cauterized the wounds. Annnnnddddd today my thumb feels all crispy. Not a feeling you want on your thumb.

I feel your pain. I am lucky if I get through a meal without hurting myself in one way or another.

Update: Went to go get stitches for the slice and they look at it and said... yeah you already sealed it.

Owww! I still have a bun on my forearm from leaning to far into the oven. Not a pleasant feeling!

I'm sure it hurt/still hurts.....but "you cauterized it"!?! That has a funny sound to it!

I hate cheese graters when you get down to the stubby ends. The cheese, that is, not stubby fingers.

i know i shouldn't laugh, but the way you put it... I can't help it. I think after the cheese grater accident, i would've given up and had the friend finish cooking or order take out.

I always eat the last bit of cheese, no more grating my fingers. On another note, went to the A's game yesterday (Saturday) which they lost but they won Friday and today (sunday)! Goooooooooooo A's!!!!!!!!!!!

Well since I live about an hour from Oakland it's not uncommon for us to go. next time I'll be sure to cheer loud enough for you too.
