You have too much money....

:rotfl2:

My SIL just had her 9 month old daughter's ears pierced and went right out to buy diamond earings for my niece's Christmas present. :confused3

On the other hand, I was looking to buy a little beaded baby bracelet for my daughter's stocking -- found some nice looking ones for $50! Heck, I can make a pretty one for less than $10. Guess I'll be working on making bracelets for Christmas.

I don't buy my kids anything that it would pain me to see broken or lost.

I saw that Seven for all Mankind now makes jeans for kids.
at $100+ a pop

on a kid? WHY? Kids grow so fast...I can see buyin "quality" clothes for your kids so they aren't walking around in rags...but to buy designer jeans? dunno about that...

No. That's just marketing. People who want to start a business in this area are "creating demand". That won't last long!

This kinda' pisses me off because all these rich celeBRATies are making public statements about how America/Americans should be giving more to countries like Africa yet they can fuel a business venture like this by spending $$$ on this type of "baby jewelry"! Hey, cough up those millions in a more constructive direction!

And who are these people going to sue when their baby chokes on this stuff?

I like the watch that Beckman bought! Doubt I would ever get one for my sond, but I would wear it.

As for bracelets and necklaces, I think that little kids should not be wearing them, unless for very special occasions and then under constant supervision. A son of a friend has a scar around his throat from wher he got a chain caught, thankfully it broke off, but he had turned blue in the face.

OMG - that is one of the stupidist things I have read in a while! What a waste of money and danger for the kids - hello, choking hazard anyone?

The first thought that entered my mind was the choking hazard. I'm glad the article finally addressed it at the end of the article.

Wow. nothing really should amaze me any more. Then something like diamond earrings for babies comes along and there ya go, I'm amazed. ;)

I agree that small children should NOT be wearing jewelry. When I was teaching first grade, a girl in my class of 27 children took off her ring and started sucking on it during story time. I didn't see her do it - until she started choking. Fortunately she could still breathe. I called the office, who called her mother, who took her to the Dr. It was stuck in her esophogus from noon until almost 10 that night when they were anesthetizing her for surgery to remove it and she threw up. Scary stuff.

That was the only real catastrophe I encountered with jewelry, but I can't tell you how many tears I dried due to lost earrings, etc. I was also always on guard for the danger of jewelry or clothing getting caught in playground equipment, etc. Children's caregivers have enough to worry about already!
