Yes I am pretty sure that this is right. The good thing is you only pay if you sell. I found it very difficult to sell books I listed many on amazon. I did better selling them in lots on Ebay.

Oh friends, I am so excited. Thanks to the person who suggested that 'buy it now' is a great option for items suitable for gifts now I tried it. And I just got my first buy it now payment.

Okay, so I am easily excited! (Everyone says that!):hyper:

Good for you! BIN is a wonderful thing!

cpl100, good for you. Its a nice feeling when something sells, especially a BIN. I do BIN only once in awhile, but now with x-mas coming so fast, its something I should think about.

I sold 2 items last night, got paid instantly, andI'll be off to the post office this morn. to ship them out.

UGH, I ran out of printing paper. My youngest uses soooo much of it to draw on. Now that I started to sell on ebay, thats gold to me. Guess I have to keep it under lock & key,LOL....

Here's luck to us all for a GREAT week....

Denise

Half.com is another great place to sell books/cds/videos/dvds/video games. I think their fees are slightly less than Amazon and when people look at your eBay items you're selling page, there's a link to items that you're selling on half.com also. I did Amazon for a while, but find that I prefer half.com

I just pulled up my stats from half.com ~
Since becoming a member, you have sold 31 item(s) for a total of $217.11. Wow, that's an average of $7/item! :bounce: And I've only been a 'member' since 9/1 and I was closed for over a week for vacation during that time!

I had 3 last minute bids last night, which is better than nothing, but eBay has got me really down lately! Here's to hoping that things pick up around Thanksgiving!

Recycle it! Print on the other side and tell them they're getting a valuable piece of artwork with their purchase! LOL

This was posted on another board I'm on by a gal name Anna, who does all of our virus warnings. I think it's appropriate here, since so many of use Paypal:

Vrus Warning W32.Mimail.H@mm Poses as a Paypal Email

That instructs you to go to a web page to enter your information. This
virus is NEW. AVG just had an update for it. Other vendors are working
on their updates.

This virus is new in the way that it presents itself.

This virus also has an attachment, not the double file extension. The
last file type is the real one: scr.

This virus affects all versions of Windows.

From Sarc (Norton) here is the message as it will appear.

And two more this morning when I got up--one for my highest ticket price! I now am feeling excited but overwhelmed with all this shipping to come up since we're having a big party this Saturday!

Thanks again to everyone!

Is everyone having trouble getting into Paypal? Is that normal on Monday due to Sunday being the best sales day?

Thanks.

I had trouble also earlier today, about 9am EST... haven't tried again....:(

I have a shipping 'legality' question. I know that priority boxes are for priority mail and can't be turned inside out and such. However, does this hold true if I have received a package sent to me by priority and want to re-use the box for non-priority? To throw away the box after one use seems a waste and this box has tape all over it! I thought I would cover it with paper and re-use non-priority if that is allowed.

Thanks!

Cindy

In my opinion, it would be better to re-use it than to toss it, however, the P.O. and UPS both dislike packages wrapped in paper.... it is an old-fashioned notion. It tends to get torn and possibly tangled up on conveyor belts and in automated sorting machines. Same with string.... don't ever use it on packages. :D

I wondered this myself. I think the only way to find out would be to call the PO and ask.

Can you believe I tried calling and there was no answer? I will ask when next I go there and then spill it all to you guys!

I am wondering what you all use as the criteria for deciding whether to ship via USPS vs. UPS? It seems I am about to do a lot of shipping :Pinkbounc as I had three buy it now purchases overnight and another two when I went to pick up my children at school.

Perhaps I am selling to low but it's hard to guess. I did research quite a bit in the 'sold' items but there is quite a disparity and the market seems rather fickle. Something will sell for $10 one day and no one wants it for $5 a few days later.....

Thanks!

Cindy

Thats not suprising, I never get anyone to answer the phone at the PO unless it rings at least 50 times!

I had 8 relisted auctions end last night, and 2 sold (a $24.00 book and a $20.00 book). Compared to previous years this close to Christmas, sales have been way down for me.

I have been doing really well selling my books on Amazon until they changed their search defaults a few weeks ago. Now when you enter in a title or author in their search engine, it will bring up any book that has those words anywhere in the text. ANYWHERE in the text, not just in the title. So a "simple" book search will often bring up hundreds or thousands of titles. I don't think anyone can find my books on Amazon anymore!

The fees on Amazon are high, but you only pay if/when the book sells. I've sold books on Amazon for 30,40,50 dollars that would only sell for 5 or 10 on Ebay, so Amazon has been worthwhile for me.

HI!

As for the question re: Priority boxes. I do this (and have not had a problem).... when I need a box but don't need to send it via Priority post I turn the box inside out and then put it inside a Priority tyvek that is also turned inside out. This way all you see is the white side of the tyvek and no Priority markings. I also order my boxes and tyveks via usps.com because I can get more variety that way. In a pinch the tyveks make great waterproof pouches for items that I send inside another envelope or box. They can also make due for packing cushion when I am out of newspaper.

Hope this helps someone!

Thanks for giving me thoughts about using BIN. I listed an item last night and today I revised it for a BIN and it sold a few minutes after I revised it. But now I have a problem/question.

It sold to someone in the military and I don't know how to address the label. It has the persons name, then HHQ 40th ENG BN, then CMR, ###(a number) Box ####(a number) then APO,AE
and the zip.

When I try to print a label, it says ERROR and to put the state. But I don't know the state or even how to type up this label.

How the heck do I do this. Can I just write this whole address on the priority box(I don't care about the free dc. I'll pay for that at the post office.

Then when I tried to do the label on the shipping assistant, it was telling me about certain forms to fill out.

Help me please, I'm clueless and this is my first military address to send to.

Thanks in advance

Denise

The buyer who purchases most of my sold auction items last night emailed me and told me he intended to purchase 12 more item but had "technical difficulties." So that means that he purchased 38 out of my 44 auction and that only 4 didn't sell. I am in shock. I can not believe that. I was so worried and stressed all week that nothing was going to sell and then the majority of it does. I certainly hope, though, that this buyer follows through, shipping alone is going to be$50 - $75, on top of about $275 in sales. WOWSERS!!
