You HAVE to try this!! EBAY your way to DISNEY!!

I'm sorry but I just seem to be dense about this. Does that mean you do a Paypal charge for your fees or that you pay ebay directly with that separate account? I know you can list an account directly with Ebay for that purpose. I guess that's what has confused me.

For your ebay fees you have the choice of both options that you mention....you can pay your fees from your paypal account at anytime that you choose by clicking onto your "account tab"....there is a box on that page that has the amount you owe in a paypal box.\, with a "pay" tab. The other choice is to link your checking account to ebay and they will automatically deduct the fees you owe on the same date each month....they will let you know what day they will deduct.

Whenever I have any amount of money in my paypal account I withdraw it to the checking account I have on file at paypal. Then once its there I call my bank and transfer that amount over to my savings account. I try to never leave any money in my paypal account because its too tempting for me to use that money to bid on auctions.

When I need to pay ebay for my listings, I use my credit card or debit card NOT on file, this way my dh has to pay for that when he does the bills and I'm not using "my money".

I try real hard not to touch any of my ebay money. I like to see it grow. Slow as my sales are going right now, after starting selling on ebay for around 6 weeks I do have a nice little amount saved.I'm hoping sales pick up for me(and all of us) for the holidays. I do have lots of things to list, but I HATE listing. All that typing drives me crazy.

cpl100, all it takes is one time to do the listing, after that one time, you'll see that its very easy to figure out the fees and accounts. If you read through the millions of pages here you'll see that I was one of the ones who couldn't figure anything at all out. I asked and asked so many questions here and everyone helped me do it. If I could do it, EVERYONE can.

Good luck, Its lots of fun...

Thanks for the encouragement. I guess I did realize that the payment could be made either way. I was looking more for reasons why people did it one way vs. the other to help me in my decision.

floridagirrl2 - thanks for making it clearer on ID's. I guess I was going with the shill bid mind set. I have seen that alot lately.

I just started paying my fees with my Paypal, that way I can keep track of my overhead rather than mixing it will household expenses. Although I like the idea of DH paying them each month!

I am with dg39 - I hate to list. It just seems to be so tedious. It was awful when we were on dial up. I can't say how many times I was halfway done and lost connection - AARRGHH!

Just wondering how many keep your EBAY ID secret from even friends?
I love it when I end up selling to someone and they find out its me.

Just wondering how many keep your EBAY ID secret from even friends?

True story: Think of all the millions of auctions on Ebay. Well, for my birthday, my DH and I ended up bidding against each other on a set of vintage drinking glasses I was going to buy myself (and that DH wanted to buy as a birthday gift for me).

He had never registered on Ebay, so I did not recognize his user ID. He was SURE I knew he had won the glasses, because when I was opening the box he said, "This is not much of a surprise." I didn't know what he was talking about & went into shock when I saw the glasses!

I'm a big Jackie Chan fan, and his user ID was iamjchan (DH signs all his emails & notes to me j. chan). With the letters all run together, I didn't even notice what his user ID spelled.

Speaking of shill bidding, if Ebay had noticed two IDs from the same address bidding on the same item, they really would have wondered why we were running up the price!

I have a Turbo Lister question. I am trying to relist some things that didn't sell (from a couple weeks ago) and for some reason, Turbo Lister has lost all of my categories. Is anyone having any problems with it? I did the required downloads but still can't get it to relist. I don't want to have to do it through Ebay. Takes too long. Any help will be appreciated. Thanks, Sandy

Another true story...

I told a person on these boards my ebay name...didn't know hers. One person kept winning the auctions I was bidding on. (This was before I knew about the last minute pounce) all the stuff was Disney related...pins and such. I didn't make the connection until the same person beat me at a completely unrelated Disney item. I mentioned it to another person on the Dis, and they knew who it was, as it had happened to them as well. I've since changed my ID.

Long story short, people can search out your bids and bid against you. I give my ID to very, very few people. ::yes::

:p

When I first started posting on this ebay page I had asked someone their ebay user name in a PM to them...I had included my ebay name for them. It sounded like the poster had some interesting things going on and I wanted to check it out. Never heard back, so I just let it go and figured that they didn't want to "share"....never in a million years would I have thought what you have written would ever occur!!! I like to know who sells what because so many people are always asking me "where can I get this or where can I get that"...everyone knows me as the "queen of finds and bargains" LOL...But now that I have read your post I realize that it could be a serious problem, something that had never entered my mind....thanks for sharing that!

My mom knows my ID and I wish she didn't I have a few things I would like to list but I know she checks my auctions so I wouldn't want her to see/know about these items.

Is there anyway to find out if the person bidding on your auction is an international bidder or not. All my auctions state USA bidders only and when I check there id's it usually says msn.com or aol.com or one of the others that I'm familiar with. But I have a high bidder with one I don't recognize. I'd post the ending of her id here, but its so long I forgot what it is. I don't want to email the bidder and ask her if she's international or not. TIA....

Yes....on your auction page, next to History, click on "bids", then go to the bidder that you are worried about and click on their feedback number, that will bring you to the page with their ID Card and will tell you where they are from.

Although a few of you have mine..I too (as I've said in the past) no longer will post it, and I removed it from the posts I had it in (no point in changing it..since eBay just sends you to the new one). I had someone who posted in the beginning on this board, who kept pm'ing me with questions and not always nice remarks (she no longer posts...at least not under the same name) bid on a ton of my stuff (I sell very little Disney stuff..just a few LE pins..so it made no sense) and never pay. It became very nasty, as she just didn't stop..even once I blocked her..she just used another name. She finally stopped when I went a bit further. It's a shame, because I would like to have you guys as customers.

It is unbelievable to me that someone would be so malicious. I could never understand why someone would want to be so secret about their Ebay ID (other then like I posted above, not wanting somoene to see what you are selling) but now I understand . Unbelieveable.

Hey everybody,

Just coming out of lurking mode for a bit.... I was wrapped up with a surprise 50th B-day party for my DH, who was reading this thread, so I didn't dare mention it! I have one last auction ending on Thursday, then we leave for FL on Saturday!!!

Thought I'd share a little encouragement for all of you - with my eBay proceeds since mid-July, I funded most of the cost of our 2 PAPs, have over $750 in Disney Dollars (all bought via my PayPal account so I got the 1.5% cash back), and paid for 2 fillings at the Dentist. I'm delighted.

Something I didn't mention to you all was that my DH had his position eliminated in mid-June and has been unemployed from then until 3 weeks ago. This thread, all your encouragement and the determination that we would not sacrifice our trip to WDW because of the job loss helped to keep me sane through the past 4-5 months. We are really fortunate that we were in good shape financially and just needed to cut back a lot, in order for unemployment to fill in for his old salary. But could we really justify using our existing income for another trip to WDW? Not really.

So, we agreed that I would eBay like crazy and we'd go using only what money I could make doing that and other programs (like surveys, rebates, freelance training, etc.), and not touch the normal budget for it. It WORKED!!! We are DVC owners and so didn't have to pay for accommodations (and yes, we are VERY fortunate to have that). Buying the PAP vouchers was a real act of faith, but I completely believed that this was all going to work. And it did!!!! He got a job offer in mid-September and they agreed to let him take a week off for this trip.

I can't emphasize enough how important it is to have a positive goal, belief that it can be attained, and a support system of some kind to achieve pretty much anything you want to do. C.Ann and the rest of you are proof of all of this, and I was way too proud to mention the unemployment situation until now... and I can be really proud of my DH because he hung in there, stayed true to his goals and himself, and the job he has now is actually better than the one he lost.

So, thanks, all of you, for your support and presence here. You can all do this!!!

After a couple of days with my Mom, we spend five days at WDW, and brother, are we going to celebrate!

I'll be checking in and reading (heck, I'm addicted to this thread), and I'm sure I'll be posting again as soon as I get back and start listing all my stuff for Christmas!

As Tigger says, TTFN!

The winner of my halloween costume just wrote to me refusing to pay. She found the same product on a 40% off sale and refused to make good on her bid.

I was able to sell via "Second Chance" to the next higher bidder.

But, now since the original bidder is not the final sale I don't see how I can leave feedback on her.

I am thinking that rather than "flame" her I'll just post her email correspondence to me. It includes her statements like 'you should have told bidders that the item is on sale for 19.99." I figure that would let future sellers make their own decision.

Please help me figure out how to do this.

HELP.............

I accidently got pen mark (ink) on an item that has bids on. Its rubber. Does anyone know how I can get it out. I tried Oxyclean, rubbing alcohol, hairspray, lemon & salt, and even ink-away. Nothing seems to be taking it out. Should I explain it to the highest bidder and offer to take some $$ off the price. Or should I cancel the auction and then relist stating the flaw. I'm so nervous over this, that I'm supposed to go to a house party tonight and feel like staying home to try to get this stain out. Its maybe an inch long, small as it is, its still not in my description and I won't/can't sell it like this. I had a pen in my hand and all I did was pass by the item and the pen pressed up against it. WHat can I do. Any suggestions would ease my mind. TIA(again)....

Denise

I would leave feedback simply saying "refused to pay for item." It is unfair to you that she choose to not pay for the item, regardless of reason.
