How big are they? Mine don't seem that big. They are smaller than the ones for Priority from the USPS website. If you print the whole label, yes, it eliminates the need for you to put your return address. I believe there is also an option for delivery confirm. barcode only. Have you tried that? I don't know how large that is since I've never tried it, but it might be an option for you if the labels are too big for your packages. HTH.
------------------------

They're almost HALF of a sheet of typing paper! And the PO says I can't reduce the size.. :( They said if they were smaller, the bar code wouldn't scan.. Doesn't make sense to me because the green and white ones from the PO are MUCH smaller..

Anyone else with ideas or suggestions?

C. Ann

Are you cutting all the way around the label i.e. cutting away all the white space? Or is printing edge to edge on that half sheet. I think when I display mine it opens up at 73%. I don't know if that's what they print at or if they print at 100%, but I know the label part doesn't take up a 1/2 sheet of paper (maybe about 1/3) and I've never had trouble at the PO.

I finally got the Shipping Assistant to work for me!! (Or at least I "think" I did - LOL)...

:Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc

That means for every 10 packages I ship out, I'll be saving $4.20 !! For twenty it would be $8.40!! For 50 it would be $21!!!!!!! Yeeeee ha! Disney here I come!!!!!

------------------------

Okay - still have a question though.. I cut the paper in half and tape the one with the addy and all on the package.. I got that.. Now - the other half I present at the PO to have it stamped? Do I have to keep them in order or just hand them the whole fistful?

-----------------------

I've been a busy little bee since I got home from the lake yesterday.. I've managed to get just about 50 auctions up and I'm hoping to do more before I leave tomorrow..

Come on green - come to "Grandma"...;)

Yaaaaaaay eBay!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I don't even take the other half to PO. If your PO has a scanner, and they scan the packages, the DC # will be on your receipt. At least it is on mine. I do keep the other half of the paper and file it until feedback has been left for me, then I toss it. HTH

Where do you find this Shipping Assistant? Is there a fee for it? I have been printing my labels through the USPS website with the Delivery Confirmation, but my post office doesn't scan them when they take them in.....and they tell me that if the package doesn't make it, they are not accountable? Does this sound right?

The Shipping Assistant is free....simply download. Do they type in the number that is on the label....mine cant scan? Are they charging you for DC on Priority or full price on other mailing options?

Hi :)

They are not charging me for the DC, I ship Priority and I print the labels off at the USPS website so they show up as having DC on the label that I tape on to the package. The gal that normally works there never scans them in. I went to a different post office one time and they did scan it in there. Yesterday when I went to the PO there was a different guy working and he tried to scan it...it wouldn't scan, then he tried to punch in the numbers and it didn't come up that way either. He asked what the normal gal usually does with them and I told him that she normally doesn't do anything with it. I guess I am a bit confused...

Thanks for the link to the shipping assistant...definitely going to check that out!

Remember a couple of weeks ago - when I was so frustrated with the Shipping Assistant - and decided to wing it and send a few things out without delivery confirmation?

Well yesterday I got the dreaded email.. Someone telling me that they hadn't received their item yet.. :( It was mailed late in the day on June 20th - a Friday.. Taking out the Sundays it's been 10 days as of yesterday.. The item was mailed Parcel Post.. Is it possible that it could take more than 10 days? The item went from New York to Michigan..

I'm SOOOO upset because I've never had this happen before and now I could KICK myself for not getting the DC !!! I asked the buyer to wait a few more days and then get back to me if the item still hadn't arrived..

Someone PLEEEEEEEEZ tell me it could take more than 10 days???? Now I'm going to spend the whole holiday weekend worrying about this.. :(

Actaullly it could take ten days... yes, its one of those longer times, but it can happen. Some PO's just take a LONG time, and don't hustle as much... it all depends on how big the town is, etc.

For example, I lived in a town where there was PO/ General Store... for a very long time... (they still exist!)

I sent something from PA to CA and it took 14 days...

It all depends on the POs. Think about when we go to WDW and mail postcards home......I have always beat the cards home because I'm sure the FL POs are overwhelmed with tourist mail. Second I live in a small town and when I see others post about a reward or magazine arriving I know mine wont be here for 1-2 days later. I would think a postcard would move faster than a package so I imagine packages could take longer. On your next stop to your PO ask them how long it should have taken.

C.Ann, I am also in the Upstate NY area (near Binghamton) and I have a friend near Detroit, MI. For some reason, anytime I send anything to her, it takes FOREVER!!!

Well, up until now, all my buyers have been great. Most paying within a day or two. But, i have one auction, that ended on the 18th June, which still hasn't been paid for.

I sent an invoice, to which i recieved no reply. I am quite patient, so i waited till about the 24th till i sent a payment reminder, through ebay, and still heard nothing. I sent a personal email, (politely) requesting payment on about the 28th, to which i recieved the reply, 'The cheque is in the post. Give it a day or two.' However, i still have not recieved it and now i'm getting impatient. How would i put an email politely telling him that if he doesn't pay up, i will file an N.P.B, without sounding too rude?

Also, does anyone have an answer to my question a few days ago? How do i give my buyers the option to pay through paypal at checkout, without ticking the paypal option because i don't accept credit cards?

Thanks for all your help!!!:p

I can't really answer your questions Korbs but I have seen auctions where people state NO CREDIT CARDS THROUGH PAYPAL in their terms.

A few pages back someone had posted an example of wording to use for a non-paying bidder. I have a similar situation so I will try to go back and find it.

By the way CONGRATULATIONS!!! on the star. I got mine this week too!!!

O.K. all you newbie e-Bayers, next year e-Bay Live will be in New Orleans and you don't want to miss it!

The dates are already set for June 24th-26th 2004. This is a great way to meet all kinds of e-Bayers, they have classes you can attend and an Exhibitors Hall, but one of the best things was the pins and trading cards they give away. It was a fun way to get to know others!

I'm so sad that this years is over and I'm back home :( If anyone was there and needs a card to finish a set I have a few extras, PM me and we'll see if I can help!

****Help****
My gosh why don't people just bid on the stupid auction? - vent.

Had a lady email me last night about one of my auctions. She liked the item but wanted a different color. Then she found another of my listings and said she wanted me to make something to go with it. I told her I could list it as a Buy It Now but the price would be higher than the starting price for the auction - duh.

Well she never bid on the auction and immediately after the auction ends I get an email from her husband saying he was supposed to bid for his wife and didn't and could he have it for the listing price.

The way I see it he should have bid and taken his chances of getting it or bid high enough on the proxy to get it - am I right. If I relist I know my listing fees would be refunded if the item sells.

The person has a feedback rating of 677 and 99.1%. The negatives are all on items that were sold.

Why do people try to get around the system? This has happened more than once to me in only a few weeks of Ebaying.

Hi Everyone,

I wanted to let you all know that my very first Ebay selling experience has been great. Thanks to all of your advice I have a whopping gross income of $369.78. That is from two days of sales. That's Awesome. I am so excited. I have already shipped all of my paid auctions with no problems. The first time I went to the PO, the guy said do you want this to go 1st class and I said no Media Mail and he said Duh...It's right on your package. He loved the label off of the USPS Site and showed it to his co-workers who apparently had never seen it before. I got the DC for .13 and was on my way. So easy. I sent some yesterday Priority Mail and it was very smooth too. I am a bit nervous about feedback, what if someone doesn't like what they got? Do they try to work it out with you? I love everything I sold and represented it truthfully in my descriptions but not everyone sees things the same way. Let me know if you have had any bad experiences with that please. Also, ya know how I said my hubbie thought I was nuts, well he helped me make everything look great before it left our home and helped me package everything up. I've got him hooked too.

Thanks everyone,

Sorry for rambling.

Martha

HI Neighbor! I live near Binghamton TOO! small world! :)

:Pinkbounc Remember the npb I had..well the note worked she did pay and now I just have to wait and see if she leaves me a neg feedback. DMRICK she did buy one right after she bought mine for a bit cheaper($2) and so I am sure her story that she did BIN by accident was a lie!

I got my first item closed by ebay ...a weird one too! I always try to be sure that I don't sell stuff that is obviously a trademarked item. Books and Videos are as crazy as I get. But DH has a sword collection and he had one item he asked me to sell...and THAT is what was removed. I mean I don't see how that could be copyrighted(it does not even have a company name on the box I checked!) and they did not tell me the name of the company it infringes on so now I am scared to put any others up(though there are 1000s up on ebay now)
WHo knows!

:jester: I :bounce: got my Blue Star! yippiiee yee haw! :jester: :Pinkbounc

I am a bit nervous about feedback, what if someone doesn't like what they got? Do they try to work it out with you?

This always depends on the person. I'd love to share with you what happened to me last night.

My sister had some old Coach bags she wanted to sell. The were all kind of old and used but she started them out low and all sold fast. Two of the ladies loved their bags but the last one emailed me last night to ask for a refund minus the shipping because she really didn't like it.

I refunded her money and added the shipping so she can send it back to me. It went pretty smoothly but I was a BIT concerned about her feedback.

After listing my stuff last night I noticed I had one more feedback. It was the lady with the bag! She gave me a positive, glowing review! I emailed her and thanked her. I thought what she did was classy.

I think most people are kind but there are those who can't be satisfied no matter what you do! I wouldn't sweat feedback, just do your best and hope for the best!

Congratulations on your total!! That is awesome! :bounce:
