this reading is taking a long time.....

Got out a box of stuff from my Mom's house (she passed away last year and I saved a bunch of stuff with the EBAY intention!)......

I think I need to open a check account tomorrow.....

This seems very complicated......

I cant wait to start!!

PS. I think I will start with books and videotapes......(they seem the easiest) this is considered media mail - right. They are eligible for a flat rate? Can I use the free envelopes from USPS?

I know everything will clink together in my brain once I start doing this but right now my mind is swimming.

Thanks.

Yes Tapes and Books qualify for Media Mail. You can use the boxes/envelopes that are available for free from the USPS IF you want to mail them Priority Mail. You can not use them for Media Mail.

Opened up the checking account - now I need to find free email so I can use that for correspondence.

Can anyone suggest the best free email and why?

Thank you!!

I use Yahoo. It is simple to use. And I love that I can access my email anywhere. You can set up different folders to "sort" your mail. Or even set up filters so all "ebay" mail goes to an ebay folder. All "paypal" mail goes to a paypal folder.

Now I am registering at ebay to be a seller (have already been a buyer!).

I didnt know they wanted credit card and banking information.....

Thanks.

(And I continue plodding along.........)

Help please.....

I am starting with all my Moms collectibles.....alot of Lenox, Hummel, Calico Kittens among others.

What size box should I be buying...they are between the size of 3 inches and 6 inches tall. I know I should buy a box bigger than the box it came in (luckily she even saved THOSE) but how much bigger. I want to make sure they are adequately protected during shipping.

I need to go to Office Max to buy school supplies for my daughters and thought I would pick up a few shipping supplies to have on hand so I have SOMETHING to start with.

Thanks.

On delicate items such as those you will want at least 2 inches all around for padding. So if the item is 3X5 you will want to find a box that is 5X7.

Order Priority Mail boxes from the post office. Also, get the large bubble bubble wrap. You will need alot of it. Price it on ebay, and check those prices with Office Max. You might find its cheaper, even with shipping, to buy it on ebay.

You will need ALOT of bubble wrap. When you wrap it and close it in the box, it can't move AT ALL. The 7 X 7 X 6 box http://shop.usps.com/cgi-bin/vsbv/p...isplay_products/productDetail.jsp?OID=1003566 might be good for the smaller figurines, but you might need the next biggest size for the 6" figurines.

Good luck-

quick reply - I did order suppies this afternoon but went back and added the larger boxes.

Stupid question please? - since you have directed me to priority mail I am thinking that this is your suggested mode of shipping?

Have a great day:D

Yes - it's very reliable, and since your packages will be light, very affordable for your customers. Use the Print Shipping Label from ebay and PayPal, and the USPS Carrier Pickup option to pick up the package from your mailbox. You'll have delivery confirmation for free (if you do it online). It's very convenient. Just print the postage out on plain paper and tape it well to the box.

have fun!

I just wanted to say that this is something I have been meaning to get around to for over 2 years.....first when an Aunt passed away and I had to clear out her house and again when my mom passed away last year.

I just KNOW I threw away alot of stuff that would have sold. I do have 20 or so boxes in my attic.

I am start to really think that it might be possible to go on a Disney Cruise (maybe 2006?) if I start doing this now. That is saying alot - as you can see from our family photo below - we need 2 cabins - VERY PRICEY.

We have never been on a cruise (sighing wistfully)!

Thanks for everyones tips and suggestions. I finished reading this thread and am page 203 of the original (My eyes are killing me!)

My next step is to take some pictures and maybe try out Turbolister......I can list things there and just leave them until I am ready to start right? I am waiting to be verified on Paypal and then I think I am set.

Wish me luck and thanks to all.

Yes, with Tubolister, all you have to do is make all of your listing and get them all ready. Then when you are ready to list them, just click on the ones you want to list and they will go to the upload to ebay file, then just click the button to upload them its all done in about 3 minutes. Some times less and sometimes more depending on how many itmes you are listing.

Good luck! I am sure with ebay, and you saving a little here and there every week you will make it to that Disney Cruise!

Ebay - Listing Designer - it costs $0.10 - Has anyone used this and what does it look like? And I cant find it on Turbolister....can this only be used if you use the regular ebay lister. Does my questions even make sense?

Thanks.

Ooohhhhhhh - never mind.....it is on the Ebay site only......this is so cool......oh boy

everyone recommends turbolister but I cant find anything like that on it......what do I use....

which is better to look at!!!

Help!!!

I KNOW I AM BEING A PAIN IN THE BUTT but can someone link me to an Ebay listing with Turbolister (a plain with without the extras that cost more) and a regular Ebay listing with the free backgrounds/themes.

Listing Designer is on Turbolister, i use it alot. It is on the screen (on the left) when you do your description narrative. When was the last time you updated your turbolister? Maybe thats all you need to do. It will show you the various design schemes that might best fit your listing.

Thanks for your reply and help. I DID find this on turbolister and no I have not downloaded any updates or anything....I am just starting and thought I read that someone lost information when downloading updates.

I just spent HOURS inputting 11 auctions into the lister...the more I did the more things I saw that I could do with it. I am only charged $.10 for the listing designer - correct?

Geez - unless I figured wrong I am actually getting about 8.50 for every 10.00 in sales.

I better figure out my shipping and handling correctly.

I hope I make some money!!!

OKAY - NOW I HAVE REALLY DONE IT....I dont know if I signed up for a Premier Paypal Account or Not.....I wanted to!!! Can someone show me where on the paypal website I can check this. I can t find it - maybe I am just too tired but I cant.

Thanks:confused:

Not sure how to tell for sure. But if you signed up for a personal account, the first time you get a credit card payment it will ask you to "accept or deny" the payment. Simply accept the payment and you will auto be upgraded to the premier account.

I keep getting the message that I have to view the label with an external reader - I DO have adobe acrobat but I dont know how to tell the assistant to go to use that.

I tried launching adobe first but that didnt do anything. I think a few hundred threads back I read something about it but cant find a way of going back to that thread without rereading through every thread.

Suggestions please....I am very excited to have 25 auction on turbolister ready to go Sunday night and am trying to familiarize myself with everything necessary to mail stuff out.......

Thanks.

NEVERMIND - I found this answer....I uninstall Adobe 6 and install Adobe 5.

Now my question is - does the label need to be a certain size....I can get them as small as 4x6 but is that allowed?

I just print the label on regular 8.5 X 11 Paper, cut on the cut line and tape to the package. I have never tried to make them any other size.
