You HAVE to try this!! EBAY your way to DISNEY Part 2!!!!

O.K I have a problem buyer. Something that I have never really had. I hope some one can help me out.

I put up on ebay a Disney Snowglobe with a BIN auction.

First this lady, wrote me to ask if I would come down on the shipping. I woudn't.

Then she wrote me to ask if the globe had any damage and if the music still played. Now I tested it out, and looked it over before I even put the thing on ebay, and all was well. The music played, Mickey and Minnie were turning inside the globe, the lights came on, and there was no damage to body of the globe. All in all it looked like it came straight out of the box. Which is were it has been for nearly a year. I told her as much.

So she does the buy it now, and it was put in the mail monday.

Today, I get an email from her stating that she is unhappy with the globe. She says that the lights will not turn off with the switch, she has to take the batteries out if she wants the light to turn off. Now they were turning off just fine, before I packed it up.

Now she is not saying that she wants her money back, she just want to have $20 back and to keep the globe. Or at least that is what I am getting from her e-mail.

What would you do?

I would not mind refunding her $35 (the globe at the DS would have cost her nearly $80) for the globe, but not the shipping. (It took a lot of packing peanuts, tape and bubble wrap to pack that thing.) But only if she returned the globe. But I am worried that I will not get the same globe back. Because the one I packed was working fine.

This might be pushing it, but state (I can't remember exactly how I read it - someone else had a similar situation):

'I am very sorry this item did not meet your expectations. It worked as stated upon shipment, however may have been damaged in transit. I always stand behind my sales. Please return the item to me in like packaging & I will be happy to refund your purchase price once receipt of original item is confirmed. Please remember, all purchases are marked with special light marking for identification of the item to eliminate fraudulent returns, and this light marking will be used for item confirmation. (Shipping is non refundable on original shipment or return of item). '

Any chance they purchased insurance? If so, and it was damaged in shipment it should be covered.

Yes, they bought insurance. And it getting damaged in the mail is something that crossed my mind.

I need to wright her back now, because she wrote me yesterday. But I had to deal with the loss of one of my cats yesterday, and I really didn't want to deal with her.

Thanks for the advise. I will send her something like what you said.

Wish me luck!

Hi,

Thanks for the help.

Sorry about your cat - it's amazing how attached you can become to the little furkids.

My textbooks arent going right now. I might wait unitl early Mid August.

Do you need a Chemistry or Health and Wellness? I got those right now!

I've done about the same on half.com and ebay. Ebay went a little higher price, but of course, the fees were higher.

Thank you. It was really hard on us. We had had her for almost 10 years. She was a rescue kitty that a friend had fround on the side of the road. Her liver was failing, and even if we had spend all the money we had in the bank account their was just no gurantee of her getting better. All day today, I keep walking by her favorite room in the apartment thinking that she will be there sunning herself.

Well, this didn't work. Said that she still wants to keep the globe, but she still wants me to refund $20 of the globes BIN price. The BIN price was $35.

Said that if I wanted it back I would have to refund her, her money and pay for return shipping. She said that she did not want to be out of the money she has already paid for shipping, plus pay more for shipping.

And she will not file a claim for the insurance. Said that I purposly sold her a bad globe. The light were working when I packed the thing! If they hadn't beed working I would have told her that, and I would have said so in my description of the item.

UGH! Help!

I wouldn't refund her anything then. If you know it worked when it left, and she won't return it to you for verification or make an insurance claim that sounds fishy to me. When she leaves you a negative, reply explaining you offered her a refund and she refused to make an insurance claim.

I always struggle with doing what I want to do in these situations and my concern over a negative feedback. I think some buyers know this and feel in most cases we will just give them some money back.

Give yourself a month or so, and give a home to a new rescue kitty. There are so many in need and it sounds like you really enjoyed having a cat around. www.petfinder.com is a great place to look for rescues. I used to volunteer for Maine Coon Rescue (Maine Coons are a breed of longhaired cats).

And she will not file a claim for the insurance.

It was insured, and she won't do a PO claim? You may have to eat a neg on this one. If it worked, and now it won't, and she won't bring it to the PO to collect on insurance, she's after a cheaper price. I wouldn't have her send it back, I would insist she bring it to the PO, and follow up on the claim.

This is a very common SCAM on Ebay--to claim an item is not working properly/damaged/whatever and ask for a partial refund. It is outrageous that she refuses to return the item for a refund OR file a claim with the post office.

First of all, I would email Ebay and copy/paste her emails to you and tell them this bidder appears to be engaging in fraud. It might not do any good, but at least Ebay will hear from you before they hear from your buyer.

Second, I would email the bidder and tell her you cannot refund money without having the snow globe returned to you in the condition in which she received it. Repeat the portion of your earlier email stating that all purchases are marked with a special light marking for identification of the item to eliminate fraudulent returns, and this light marking will be used for item confirmation. As another poster stated, you will have to eat the negative but remember, you can reply to a negative.

Did you already leave her positive feedback after she paid? This is a classic example of why not to leave feedback until you know a buyer has received the item and is satisfied with it--otherwise you can be blackmailed with the threat of negative feedback (even if she hasn't stated this, this sound like what she is doing!) If you have not already left her feedback, you can leave her a negative.

I am so sorry to hear about the loss of your kitty!

Oh, and I agree with DMRick that you should insist she file the P.O. claim if she doesn't want to return the item.

Oh, I'm so sorry! Our first kitty was found on the side of the road - he led to six more family kitties! (Spread out amongst my sisters, parents and I.)

Anyhoo, randomly re-entering the thread. We finally got settled into our newest home and I got all my eBay boxes out of storage! So I'm getting ready to get back into the swing of things. I've missed eBay!

Luckily the move gave me about 600 boxes of blank newspaper to pack with!

Yeah, but have you ever been to Hemingway's house on Key West? I think he overdid it a bit! He had something like 90 cats living there.

Luckly, I have not left her any feedback yet. There was just something about her that made me want to wait. You know their are just some buyers that you know it will be smooth sailing, while others you see the trouble before they even show up.

Were exactly would I send the e-mails that I have been getting from her to ebay? Would I find that in the seller helper section of the site?

Need to write her again, to let her know that with out the globe she will not be getting part of or any of a refund.

I'm sure I will get a neg, but seeing how it will be my second in 5 years, thats not to bad. Plus I have another 15 feedbacks that I am sure will be positive from other sellers, who bought after her.

Thank you all for your help so far. Lets hope this will be ending soon.

Thank you all for your condolences. She was a sweet, wonderful cat, that is greatly missed.

I've been. Beautiful house in a beautiful area. We didn't see 90 cats, because I think it was so hot. But I think we saw a good 20 of them. Did you see the cement sidewalk, with all of the cat paw prints in it? And all of those cats are special, they all have 6 toes. It took everthing I had not to pick one up and and try to walk out the door with it. But they have it made there, so I just could see them wanting to live any where else, but their little land of paradise.

Well, I wrote her last friday 7-16. Telling her without the globe that she would not be getting a refund. And that the lights were tested three times before I mailed the globe off, and they worked just fine. So I would not be sending her a patial refund. But I would help her file her insurance claim with the PO.

Guess, what? It is now Monday 7-19, and I have not heard a word from her. She hasn't even left feedback for me, yet, positive or negative. But ther is still time for that.

I would like to thank you all for the help with this, you helped me stand my ground, and not cave in on her demands. I am so glad that I found this place!
