You Gotta Love Ing!!!

Thanks for letting me know about the rate increase. I rarely look at that Loooooong ING thread. But for some reason whenever someone posts about being thrilled with it I always read it to make sure I'm not missing out on something!

I'm getting a charge out of my new ING account too!!

DH was really sceptical about it until he saw the sign up bonus appear in my account.

And now that he's seen the APY go up....... well- let's just say that he thinks that it was a good idea for me to open an account!!

Pretty soon he'll be begging for his very own!!!

Hey, Flower...my DH was and still is skeptical of ING...I am looking at it as a way to force us to save money. I keep thinking of that Oprah show where that financial advisor she's had on a few times (I forget his name:rolleyes: ) says you can become wealthy by saving a dollar a day! Anyway, I just registered for automatic deposits from our checking account into my 2 DDs and my ING account. $7 a week into each account. I didn't even tell him I did this - he won't even notice. Hey, a few less trips to McDonald's and Dunkin Donuts during the week and we won't even notice that $21/week!:sunny:

I can't believe that you spell your name the same way that I do!!

And I figure that what he doesn't know- won't hurt him..... :teeth:

I had signed up last week and it was very simple to do. I am waiting for hubby to get set up so I can get more money...:Pinkbounc

When you say Cape May County do you mean Cape May County,NJ? I was born and raised in Cape May County. I'm sure we know alot of the same people - if not each other!

On another note, speaking of referrals, why is it that when I send referrals to anyone for anything no one ever signs up? I just don't get it. Especially with this one and FREE MONEY.

I agree with you, the ones I thought would sign up for sure, have not, and others I never expected to have signed up.

I am also wondering if anyone has gotten all 25 referrals. I don't think I ever will, but it would be nice to see that balance going up and up, wouldn't it?

I think some people shy away from it when they realize that you have to link your checking account to the ing acct. Maybe that is why there are some unfulfilled referrals.
As far as using up all 25- We have 5 ING accounts in my family so we have 125! I know I will never run out of referrals- but wouldn't it be nice $$$$$$
:D
PS: I have family in Cape May and North Cape May, too.

I have gotten a couple of referrals, but I just earned my first interest on my account. I've deposited about $25 of my own money, but my account is over $100 after two weeks (including one on vacation). Hoping to use this to pay for either my AP or resort for a trip next summer.

I transfer money from my account every payday. I am going to up that amount as soon as school starts.

Fast -- easy way to save

And using those referrels helps too.

I am also doing the automatic debit starting this month. I hope I can keep it in ING without moving it over to my checking account. I keep telling myself it's my vacation fund and I won't touch it! I have a long ways to go to use up my 25 referrals.. :)

I still think a lot of people shy away from online banking (even though there are a few ING branches) I also think a lot of people are scared to link accounts to their banking accounts. This probably the main reason that ING offers the referral bonuses in the first place. No better carrot than cash if you ask me!

Please don't flame me but just a word of support to the original poster: let the moderators take care of what they don't want on the board. If you look at the ING FAQ link it is just the same people answering the same questions over and over again. I never would have read about the increase if it were posted on the FAQ board so thank you for the info. I won't even go into my theory on why that board is there in the first place ; )

when you get your monthly reminder (via email) to view your eStatement, the rate is shown under your account number.

I just got my email the other day and noticed the % increase. I didn't read the whole email and I was going to delete it until the I noticed the % was different. Now I know to read my emails from ING when they come. I just thought they reminded you to view your statement online by logging in and that was it. Now I know better. Made my day to see that.

Hope this helps others...

I didn't even know that they had e-statements until your post. Thanks, I just signed up. I kind of treat my ING account like it doesn't exist so I don't check on it often.

I also love my ING direct account. And now I love it even more that they upped the Interest rate. That is wonderful.

When I joined ING, I don't remember signing up for the eStatements. I just thought that it was generated automatically.

The email doesn't give you any specific account information, it's a reminder that a statement is ready so you can view your transactions and interest. I go in occasionally, but normally delete the email. This month, I just happened to notice the % rate difference and read the email.

For now on, I will be sure to read it incase of any more increases. Glad to hear that you were able to sign up for it.

I have 20.00 come from my paycheck into one account. I am going to add 20.00 to come from my paycheck and go into the other account. Plus I will be picking up 10 to 15 dollars in DD every check too.

Also right now my child support checks are really small. I got one today for 4.67. I cashed it and put it right in the change jar.

But I love ING! It was one of the best things I have done.

Well I have only had 2 of my referrals sign up--oh well.

I'm sure it is exactly that some people don't want to link their checking account, but hey I'm all for free money.

The funny thing is that some of these same people have their bank accounts linked to pay-pal, which I would be more leary of than a bank, but alas, I digress.

I have been very happy with ING so far. I am using it to save for our winter Disney trip, and received some interest already also. It looks like they compound it monthly--which is great!

I just joined yesterday. I have to check my bank account and see what they deposited so I can tell them. Then I will start the saving.
I also am going to sign up my boys in seperate accounts and one for my live in friend. The money they "give" us will help us on our way.
I am hoping to take my family on a cruise next year. I did one once and it was the best vacation I have ever had. I want them to have the same experience and I think ING will help me get them all there. Peggie

I was originally going to take mine out for this trip, but decided to "let it ride" for next year. I am starting direct deposit too to make sure I save.
