You Flew All The Way Here With PIXIE DUST?! UD 8/22: Final Thoughts :)

You know you love it!
So I was just reading another TR and they mentioned the line "Paging Mr. Morrow, Mr. Tom Morrow. Your party from Saturn has arrived. Please give them a ring." Hahah, so now I'm all distracted by googling hilarious WDW quotes when I should be getting ready for bed. lol but that's what Disney does to ya I guess.

What are you dancing to at your recital?

I'm dancing to Sweet Home Alabama (theme this year is Rock 'n' Roll Hall of Fame)

Great update! Break a leg for your dance recital! What kind of dance do you do? My DD's do ballet, jazz, tap, broadway, and are hoping to add hip-hop this next year.

I currently am doing Tap, but usually I do Tap, Ballet, and Jazz :)

Recital '09 was fant-ahh-bu-lous!

The Good:

No screw ups, no wardrobe malfunctions, all was good tech-wise (i.e. lighting and sound).

The Sad:

My dance best friend, Abby, leaving. She's moving to NH, so she'll no longer be with us :sad1:

The Surprising:

Usually, the studio (it's a fairly small studio, only two teachers) gives out two "Outstanding Student Awards" per year. These go to exceptional students, the ones who go to class with a smile on their face, have a great attitude, and never give up. This year, they gave out four--and I was the third one! :teeth:

Overall, it was a great recital, one of the best in twelve years. :goodvibes

Day Two: BB and DTD!Part One: BB

Sunday, August 17, 2009

Waterpark day! Last time at WDW (December '03), only Typhoon Lagoon had been open (BB was up for refurb). None of us had ever been to BB, so we decided, why not?

We all woke up and ate, got dressed. Nothing too exciting, I'm afraid! Anyway, we hopped a bus to AK/BB around 8:45 or so.

Oooh...Summit Plummit!

So we parked our stuff on the beach near the wave pool and headed towards the Chairlift that would take us *gulp* up the mountain! :scared1: Our first ride was Teamboat Springs. This was quite fun, and quite WET! And cold! (Though the views from the top were GORGEOUS; we could see Expedition Everest!)

Next for us was Runoff Rapids (I took the open tube). This was fun, nice and peaceful. We then headed out back to the mountain for Toboggan Racers (fun but SCARY! You're going down HEADFIRST!), Teamboat Springs (again), and Snow Stormers...where, of course, being me, I scraped my knee on the cement. :headache:

After my little 'injury', we headed back to our stuff so I could ice it and relax. After this, we went to the wave pool for a little while, before breaking for lunch at Lottawatta Lodge. They had yummy desserts here! :rolleyes1

Next, we circled around the lazy river (we did the whole loop!) before heading off to our last major mission...Downhill Double Dipper. This was our longest wait, of about 30 minutes. But it was so worth it! Easily the best slide I've been on. :yay: We then jumped back into the wave pool (I prefer the one at TL, IMO).

By now it was around 2:30, so we decided to do one more thing before heading back to the hotel. Guess what we did? Teamboat Springs! :woohoo:

We browsed through a few stores before leaving, getting this picture (the only one at BB!) on our way out:

Coming Up...

Our night at DTD!
*Where do we eat?
*Where do we SHOP?
*A last glimpse of Pleasure Island as it was :(

(And finally, Mom steps in front of the camera)

Hi Mom! :wave2: Glad to see you, too!

I had forgotten about that part of Kingdom Keepers... it's been so long since I read that book and my brain is old.

(Can one's grey matter actually turn more grey?)

Kathy

Yeah! Mom finally made an appearance. I must admit I was a few pages behind but I'm all caught up now. I decided I needed something to help me pass the time until our next vacation so I started a trip report of my own. We surprised our son with a trip to WDW last year and thought some of my fellow disers might want to hear about it.

Lookin' forward to reading more of your report.:thumbsup2

Congrats on the dance award! What a nice honor!

Thanks! I was really surprised to have recieved it!

Hi Dad! Good to see you, finally!!

A little rain never gets in the way of us DISers!! :thumbsup2

Kathy

I look so much like Daddy, don't I?

Kathy

Kingdom Keepers, ahhh. I will never forgive them!

Hmm. I notice you did not venture to risk your life... smart girl! :rotfl:

Teamboat Springs would be my choice, too.

(Actually, I'm more of a Lazy River type!)

Sorry about your Boo-Boo. :flower3:

Kathy

Mom wouldn't let me go on Summit Plummit!

And sounds like a super fun day at BB. I've been to Disney like 8 times and have never gone to any of the waterparks, but now I want to, want to, want to go!

Lucky you got to see Pleasure Island one last time. :goodvibes

Fun report! I'm enjoying it :goodvibes

And even though someone else already brought it up, I gotta say I love your signature. The tour is coming to Chicago in August and I already got my tickets :thumbsup2

Day 2 Part 2--DownTown Disney!

Tonight was our DTD night! We headed to the boat dock at POR around 4:30 or so.

I simply love this picture:

As well as this one:

disney2008069.jpg

We entered the MarketPlace and looked around a bit. Browsing for pins (and spending nearly $50 in Pin Traders!):

disney2008070.jpg

We had decided on eating at Wolfgang Puck Express. Oh my goodness, it was amazing! For a counter service on the DDP, you get a LOT of food! I had the four-cheese pasta, and it was heaven. :cloud9:

After we left, we browsed through the World of Disney store (whoa! It's bigger than I remembered!) and strolled around the lagoon. T-Rex was just being finished at the time, but looked impressive. We walked by the Lego store and saw this:

disney2008072.jpg

We strolled through Pleasure Island on our way to the West Side. It was the last time we'd see it like this! (But could someone PLEASE tell me why they were playing Michael Jackson's "Beat It"? Please? WHY?!) :sad2:

May I just add that my legs and feet were killing me by this point? Those stairs at BB will hurt! :headache: (Wow, I just realized I sound really old...)

We entered the lovely West Side and browsed a bit. Hoi Polloi is one of my new favorite stores down there; we must've spent 20 minutes browsing! :lovestruc

Aly and I ducked into Virgin Megastores (also, our last time here ever!) without the 'rents (we were allowed 25 minutes). We each bought a couple albums.

disney2008073-1.jpg

(This picture got some raised eybrows from the relatives! :lmao: )

We cut through past around Planet Hollywood and caught a bus "home". $100+ spent at DTD, but so worth it! :lovestruc :lovestruc :lovestruc

J'adore DTD!

Wait, I don't speak French.

Me encanta DTD!

(4 years of Spanish, and 2 more to go. :woohoo: )

Coming up next:

O'hana breakfast!
The arrival of an...unexpected...visitor (eek! gasp!)
Epcot--FW
Epcot--Norway and Mexico
Pool time!
A night in

Nice update! BTW, what show IS portrayed in your sig? I've tried to figure it out, but I'm still not sure :confused3

Thanks :)

The musical in my sig is Spring Awakening (same for my location). The lyrics (the first four written lines, up to the "RIP...") are also from Spring Awakening. It's my favorite musical!

Oooh, PINS!! Did you take any pix of what you scored??

Kathy
Nope! I didn't get any at that stand, but bought quite a few in Pin Traders...and I had bought oh, 3...4...ok, maybe 5 at the Pin Traders outpost in Frontierland the day before...

*cough* It's not a problem! I can stop anytime I want!

Oooh look pins!

As soon as I read your opening post I knew I would have to read the rest - my DH and I met at Chuck E Cheese 15 years ago!

Looking forward to the rest of your report!:goodvibes
