You Flew All The Way Here With PIXIE DUST?! UD 8/22: Final Thoughts :)

Day 5 Part 3--Buggy Friends and FOTLK!

I went to see My Sister's Keeper at the movies today (by myself). I cried buckets! Not nearly as good as the book, but still very sad and touching.

Where I last left you, we had just watched the Jammin' Jungle Parade (and gotten soaked in the process!) Since we were literally *at* the entrance point to ITTBAB, we went right on in to the (cold) Tree of Life. It was a fun show, as usual (5 minute or so wait). We were just dead-on with these wait times!

Although those darn spiders don't help much with my arachnophobia :headache:

We sprinted to Camp Minnie-Mickey to see if we could make the 3:00 FOTLK. And would you believe we made it? I believe we were in the...elephant section? We've only sat in the lion section before, so this was a new perspective for us.

We took SO MANY pictures of FOTLK! I'll let them tell you the story:

FOTLK is our favorite show in all of WDW, and we never tire of it!

Up Next:

Meet 'n' Greet!
Where DO we end up for dinner?

Give you a few hints...

It's NOT in a theme park!
It's in a MAGIC KINGDOM AREA resort!
It IS on the monorail line!

Any guesses? Any?

I start work on Tuesday. Tuesdays and Thursdays, 9-11 a.m., at the library. :teeth: I'll be volunteering with the children's summer reading program. Wish me luck!

o'hana?
Cool about the job-you're lucky to be able to do what you want to do as a career.

Good Luck!! :shamrock:

What a coincidence... Tricia is going to do the exact same thing this summer!! That, plus a couple of field hockey camps. :thumbsup2

Hmmm. You already went to the Poly for breakfast with Lilo and Stitch, so I'll guess.... Chef Mickey's!! :mickeyjum

Good guess, but nope!

Oh, thanks! Of course, it's not a paying job, but I'm happy to do it.

Hmmm mayyyyyybeeee :rolleyes1

Day 5 Part 4--Meet 'n' Greet 'n' Dinner! (I)

After seeing the fabulous FOTLK, we decided it was time for character pics! It was Day 5, and we hadn't met Minnie or Goofy or Donald yet! Shame on us!

First was Safari Goofy. Here is a (very brief) video of Dad with Goofy. Err, see, I can explain this one! Mom had given me the camera while she was looking for something and, well, it had somehow switched to "video" setting and...:

Ooops

More pics with Goofster:

Next was Safari Donald! Donald came out to see us. Donald was very shy. Very very shy. He did not want to see us. He thought we didn't love him! After much prompting and shouts of "come on Donald!", he finally came over to us.

Donald kept miming that he couldn't see Aly's autograph book. So dad lent him his glasses! The handler put them on Donald's bill :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

Sadly, we don't have a picture of that :guilty: The PhotoPass people took one, but we didn't buy the c.d. The only PhotoPass pictures we bought were one of me, Aly, and Peter Pan, one from Crystal Palace, and a ride photo from Expedition Everest. We bought the former two at the PhotoPass place in DTD.

Moving on!

Us and Donald (#1!):

Last was Safari Minnie. I love this picture of me with Minnie:

After saying goodbye to Minnie, we went on just oneeeeee more ride on Everest...which turned into TWOOOOO more rides on Everest for Aly and I ;)

We're on this train somewhere, Aly and I! :

disney2008162-1.jpg

Wheeeeee!

Our ADR's were for 7:45.

It was now 5:00.

So what do we do? Walk around DTD in the rain, and then go to the restaurant?

Skip the ADR altogether?

Orrrr....

Go to the restaurant and try to switch ADR times?

Cont'd in next post...picture count will go over!

Day 5 Part 4 (II) Meet 'n' Greet 'n' Dinner!

Kathy had it right, our ADR's were for CHEF MICKEY'S!

So you can see our dilemma.

I suggested maybe going to the MK for a little while, until our ADR time.

Mom said no (booooo!)

I INSISTED on this dinner, absolutely INSISTED. Mom couldn't see why. But since I INSISTED, we decided to give it a whack. We took the bus to the CR, and went upstairs to Chef Mickey's. The ADR girl looked at our ADR time and told us we were too, too early. Mom told her that all our other ADR's were around the same time. ADR girl checks. She sees that our ADR's are, in fact, all around the same time, and would we mind waiting half an hour or so? We went for it. May I state that the restaurant was half-empty? :sad2:

In actuality (I love that word), we waited 10 minutes. Yes, 10. Woohoo!

We got all our food, and waited for some friends to visit. First was Donald! :

disney2008163.jpg

Next was Goofy:

disney2008164.jpg

And then Chef Mickey himself! :

Let's call this...The Revenge (or Attack!) of the Pluto Whiskers:

Goofy hamming it up at the Party Break:

And Mickey came back for a girl's picture:

And lastly, Minnie. The other characters had already been around twice, and Minnie hadn't even been over! :

The food was okay here...the dessert was great, though!

Just to show you what the sky was like during the eye of Hurricane Faye Or...well...we think it was? Anyway, check this out!) :

Waiting at the bus stop...come on, the MK this THIS way!

But our hotel is this way:

Up next:

Our last full day...MGM day!

Yes, I still call it MGM.

It's my favorite park!

:woohoo:

I love your dad's shirt.

I'm loving your trip report so far! GREAT job! And you're 15??!! Now...I probably sounded about the same when I was 15...but even THEN it was few and far between! You sound quite mature!
Pleeeeaaaaaasseeee keep it coming!

Aww thanks! Yep, I'm 15. My birthday is this month! :cool1:

I'll keep it coming for sure!

I saw you on Kathy's TR and followed her over here. I just read the entire TR today and I am loving it. It looks like you had a fantastic time and I am so jealous of the wait times, you got so much done!!

I am so sorry about your friend . Congrats on your grades and your recital.

I admire your Mom's job choice, my significant other, Bill has Cerebral Palsy. I adore him  he is my hero.

Aww, thanks!

Today was actually the two-month 'anniversary' of our loss. It's going to be hard starting school in the fall without here there. Coincidentally enough, her birthday was September 11...

Oh, the wait times were awesome! They weren't as good at MGM, but AK was a gold mine :woohoo:

Aha! Those characters beat you to the Contemporary, I see! Whew! They sure keep them hopping! :rotfl:

So glad you were able to get your ADR time adjusted!

I agree about the food at Chef Mickey's...

Dinner = Meh.
Dessert = Yum!

Can't believe you're almost up to your last day!!

Kathy

Of course, the last day is always the best!

But ha, yes, the characters did make it there! And changed clothes, too! :rotfl:

Ahh, the magic of Disney :goodvibes

A confession...

I haven't been completely honest with you TR readers.

And I've been thinking, you guys have the right to know.

If Kathy can be honest about Billy's medical history, I can be honest about my own.

I have Fanconi Anemia.

Diagnosed at 4 years old (nearly 5), and had it since birth.

FA is a rare (1,000 people worldwide, approx.) genetic disorder that can lead to bone marrow failure. I can't exactly explain it, because so little is known about it.

Basically, it's like anemia with sucky bone marrow stuff thrown in. I have trouble with blood clotting, and I bruise SUPER easily. I have limits in phys. ed. class (NO contact sports), and I can't do anything where I can more or less have possible head trauma. I have blood tests yearly, as well as a bone marrow biopsy.

When I was little, my platelet counts were 15,000. This is dangerously low.

And now, at (almost) age 16, they are 100,000+!! :woohoo: :woohoo:

Still, it is a scary thing. It can lead to cancer :sad1:

Nonetheless, I've managed to make it this far, and I try to fight it best I can!

I'm sure there's much more that I can't explain, but that's my Big Confession.

TR update will come tomorrow, I promise!

:hippie: , , and :teeth:

Meg

Congrats on being so open.
If you don't mind me asking, is your safety during dance an issue?

Congrats on being so open.
If you don't mind me asking, is your safety during dance an issue?
Every year when we register for dance, we have to sign a wavier stating that we know that dance is a sport, and that we know that there are risks involved in doing this.

I don't do acro, which would be the main concern. Tap, Ballet, and Jazz are perfectly fine.

In fact, I mostly ruin my legs, feet, and ankles in dance! :rotfl:

I'm so sorry that you have had to deal with something like that. It's good to see you're handling it well, are doing pretty well physically, and have a positive attitude about everything!

Thank you :)

I just don't think about it, and that's how I get through it. I pretend like I'm a normal, healthy person.

I forgot to mention, but FA destroyed my hearing (you may have noticed my hearing aids in my pics).

Bilateral hearing loss; mild-moderate in left ear, moderate-severe in right ear.

Meg I admire your courage and honesty so much! Its so great to see that you have such a positive attitude despite everything you face, it is a true inspiration!

And great updates! As always, can't wait for more. :goodvibes

Aww, thanks, Randi

Sadly, one of my closest friends isn't doing too well. On Saturday night, he was more or less on his deathbed. He was unconcious, and slipping away. Last night, he was concious again, and doing the tiniest bit better (we think because his girlfriend, whom he loves more than anything, came back from her vacation). Can we just keep him in our thoughts? Thanks.
