You Don't Need Money For Disney World

My 6 years old niece had just returned from a Disney World trip and was visiting us. She saw our 6 years old daughter putting some coins into a piggy bank. We are having our daughter saving loose coins to pay for her extra activities, like Wonderland Tea Party, etc.

(Paraphrasing 6 years olds speaking)

Niece: What is that for?

Daughter: Money.

Niece: What for?

Daughter: For my Disney World trip.

Niece: You don't need money for Disney World. All you need are Fast Passes.

Sheeesh. Kids.

In a way she is right because a FastPass can be worth its weight in gold.

or as my little daughter once told me... you can go to the gas station...(in the olden days before self serve) we'd drive up and say "can i have $10 dollars"( add a few zeros to that for today's prices) and daughter thought they actually gave you $10 rather than $10 of gas so to a6 yr old, a few trips to BP ought to finance a wdw trip easily !

On a serious note...It looks like you haven't stayed on site before. If you don't already know, your key card for your resort room can be used like a credit card in the parks and DTD. It charges to your room. It's great not to have to carry around cash or your own personal credit card.

We personally have never used the room cards for the snack carts, but I have heard that some will take them, but some will only take cash. So, we just bring in some cash for that.

In order to use your key card though you need to sign up for that at the time you check in. There is a limit to the charge. I'm kind of thinking it was $1,000.00 but could be mistaken. Any one else out there know? You can have as many people be able to charge as you want. Your children could charge if you wanted them to.

Also, when staying on site, you can have any packages delivered to your resort so you don't have to carry it around with you. We have also taken advantage of this. It works great. It just can't be within a certain time frame before your checking out.

You didn't mention what resort you'll be staying at, but I'm sure you'll love it.

Oh yeah. Some time ago my daughter wanted to go out for dinner and when I told her I had no money she says "well, let's go the bank and get some". She thought they just gave it away when you needed it. Got past that and now that she's 8, she says "let's just use your Disney card". When I asked her how she thought I was going to pay the bill, she says, "No, Mom, they pay YOU in Disney Reward Dollars, so the more we spend, the more we'll actually have for our November trip". Gotta love em

Years ago, my DD thought all you needed was lots of play money...
she thought Disney Dollars were play money like Monopoly money!

Anyway...
When you use your credit card for your room so you can charge....
depending on the level of resort determines the amount they "approve" at the time of check in.
Value.... $500
Moderate... $1000
Deluxe..... $1500

We found this out when we stayed one year at both a value then deluxe, and we asked why they only gave us $500 at All Star vs. the $1500 at Poly.
