Yorkshire Fish n' Chips change??

So I heard on the podcast that there have been some changes at Yorkshire Fish n' Chips. Apparently they have changed the breading and the fish that is used. One of the podcasters said she was there a few weeks ago and it wasn't good. Has anyone eaten there in the last few weeks? This is our traditional first meal on property - definitely a fave of ours. I can't imagine that it's going to be horrible, I'll get too upset LOL. We're about to go on our 16th trip in 11 days and I've been dreaming of this fish. Anyone been there??

From what I recall, I think they changed the fish a while back. They used to have Harry Ramsdens fish, which is a chain over in the UK. But now it's a generic fish/chips. I guess it's sort of like switching a McDonald's location into a standard WDW burger/fries.

I could tell the difference, but I didn't think it was horrible. To me the batter was a little heavier and less flaky, but it was still pretty good. Then again, maybe it was just day to day variability

Had some over the last trip in September. It may not have been the best fish'n'chips I've had in my life, but it was still pretty good - I'll go back sometime soon.

The fish was changed about two or three years ago. It's perfectly serviceable but not as good as it used to be. I think the pieces are smaller, too.

That's the last time I had it (over a year ago). It might have changed yet again since then.

We ate there in October this year, usually we love it - this time we hated it. I didn't realize that it was no longer Harry Ramdens, but you could tell something major had changed with the food (both the fish and chips were different).

This was always a must do for us, now it opens us to be able to eat in another 'country.'

Booo Hooo This makes me sad, as I was really looking forward to some good fish and chips in UK World Showcase....actually have my arrival night dinner all planned out at Rose and Crown for some great english fish and chips! I hope that bad Fish and Chips isn't what I have to look forward too!

Thanks all! I rem the last two times I was there in July and August the fish did seem much smaller. I just figured they were being cheap. The impression I got from the podcast is that the fish changed in the last couple of weeks as well. I am so not happy. If it isn't good this time, I'm def asking for my money back. It was bad enough when they changed the schoolbread in Norway which I never eat anymore bc it's so gross, but now this. LOL - they are killing me!! I'm going to give it a shot on the 15th and see..... keeping my fingers crossed it's ok!

We just got back yesterday. We ate at the Yorkshire Fish Shop on Sunday Nov. 28th. We loved it! We did not realize that the provider had changed, and we are very food aware type people. We did order three orders for two people: DH 15 wanted a lot of fish. I don't recall the serving size being different from 2005 but I couldn't bet on it. We were thrilled to be eating tasty crunchy fish and chips on the terrace in the warm weather. I hope you have a great meal there, enjoy!

I definately noticed the difference, found out later about the changes in suppliers and it made sense. Still was good standard fish and chips, just not fantastic as I formerly thought.

We've eaten at Rose & Crown (same fish and chips as Yorkshire) several times over the past few months and things have changed, just as with just about every restaurant in WDW. The fish and chips is still pretty good, but anyone who remembers the Harry Ramsden's will notice a difference. No peas now, the batter is a little different and the portion a little smaller, but still adequate. Still, we'll be dining at Rose & Crown Christmas Day.

Cutting corners is a sad trend in The World, but Disney doesn't seem to care about quality like they used to. You won't go hungry, but the "wow" factor is gone.

This is depressing. LOVED the old fish and chips, hope it isn't as bad as some say, but why change when it is great? Oh yeah, cost cutting.

I hated to hear about this as Yorkshire was one of my fav's for quick service at Epcot. WHEN is Disney going to change the food back to good food once again???

Honestly? I think when they finally stop free dining. There are quite a few things that have changed and gone downhill once this has become a regular thing. A lot of desserts have gone down in size and quality to make it qualify for a "snack". The food is definitely poorer quality and often tastes like it was frozen as opposed to fresh. I know free dining works for some people, but we also know it isn't really "free" and what your doing is "paying" for crappy food. Very upsetting

I hope more and more people realize is! We have gone from eating regularly in WDW during our trips (and enjoying it greatly!) to dreading eating while in WDW! It used to be that the food was always a wonderful experience with great food and service. Now neither is any better than you can get at any chain restaurant in any city in America! Dining at WDW is no longer an enjoyable experience, it's only done out of necessity.

I think it can be said that removing the dining plan or even the "free" dining plan won't improve things. Same things are happening at Disneyland and they don't have a comparable dining plan. It is the new business model at Disney. They would cut corners on the food even if there was no dining plan. However the dining plan in general and "free" dining are such ingenious business moves (as far as encouraging guests to spend all their vacation dollars on DISNEY and nothing else) that I don't think they are going anywhere anytime soon.

There are fewer breakfast options in the parks, which is an indication that more people are eating that meak either at their resort or off-site. Once you're in the parks you're a captive customer for whatever they can get away with serving for lunch and dinner. You can always leave the park for those meals, but if you're paying the full ticket price you're really cutting precious time out of your day. People have to eat. Whether or not they rave about the food has become a non-issue at Disney.

I half suspect many of the usual WDW restaurants will eventually be replaced by chain restaurants you can find at home. I would actually welcome places like Olive Garden and Nathan's where you can at least know what to expect than the slop they call Italian or the really inferior hot dogs they overcharge for now.

LOL so I had sent out an email to Disney about this fish issue. Said I didn't understand these changes that cause such a difference in taste and quality. I also mentioned my unhappiness about the school bread change - which is another thread going on in this forum.

So today I get a voicemail from Disney!!! The woman said she had been forwarded my email from guest communications and wanted to discuss it with me. She said she was going to be sending my comments over to the appropriate places. Then she left a number to call back. I called and they must have been closed So I'll try tomorrow.

The funny thing is, I didn't put my phone number on the email. I'm a DVC member and did mention that, so they must have looked me up. LOL I am so curious to see what she'll say when I speak to her.

It really cracked me up hearing this super-nice Disney voice saying she wanted to discuss my concerns about fish breading LOL. Can't wait to talk to her!!

I've noticed the change all over WDW! I used to love the food before so called "free dining".

This is the most frightening speculation I have seen yet. I would never choose to spend my money on a chain restaurant at WDW...including the ones that have already infiltrated, like Rainforest Cafe.

Had them last week and thought it was great! Granted it was the first time we had eaten there but we loved it and it went great with my Bass Ale.
My wife even said it was her favorite counter service meal we had in our 8 day trip.
