My husband is flying home from Fl. He had a layover in Philly. He was suppose to fly out at 2. Then they changed it to 3:10. It's now 3:14 an there is no flight crew. Some guy is flipping out. Plus they were over booked by 3.

I told him take the bump and see where they can fly you in. They can get him to Boston so he's flying there instead.

Pain in the butt but free flight money is always nice. :thumbsup2Air. SW is my choice always.

It's UsAir. I never fly USAir, it's SW for me always. Besides never having a hassle with them they give more for the bump. ;)

Wonder where the flight crew is. :confused3

USAir and USAir in Philly is just plain awful. Most disorganized operation ever!

If the WHOLE crew didn't show up, I'm thinking it's a scheduling problem not a flight crew problem.

Or, they could be delayed on another flight/plane. Sometimes flight crews do plane swaps mid day and that plane is waiting for their crew to arrive on a flight that is late getting in.

Did the gate agents say why the flight is delayed?

I agree: US Air is not the best when it comes to organization.

They said it was delayed because there is no flight crew. Plus they are overbooked by 3. Nobody would take a bump. Well except for my husband after I told him to. :rotfl: He did say he thought he saw one of the crew hanging around waiting too.
He's now getting in earlier than if he hung around and waited.

I LOVE when they are cryptic in their reasons, as if that helps the passengers :sad2:

He's smart to take the bump, if there's no crew now who knows when they will get there.

If it was first thing in the morning I would say it was a crew rest delay which means they got in really late the night before and they had to give the crew the required amount of rest time before their scheduled flight the next morning, but your husband's flight seems too late in the day for that.

So I'm still going with a plane swap and the crew is late inbound (if the plane is there already and they are really just waiting for the crew and not the crew AND the plane, but I never trust gate agents :rolleyes1)

(That person your husband sees might be another person trying to jumpseat to get to work, not a crew member. A lot of times they travel in uniform and get mistaken for crew.)

I shouldnt tell you what happened to us last summer then. Our 2:45 flight was delayed and delayed and delayed. Finally at 8:00 we were told the crew was at the wrong gate they would be right along. At 9:00 we were told the crew was on the way and would be there at 10:30. At 10:30 they showed up and we were told we all needed new boarding passes (still havent figured out why). The crew got on the plane we all lined up for boarding passes and about 10:45 PM we were told the flight was cancelled, and to stay in line we would be rebooked by Tuesday...this was Sunday! The crew all went home and we were left to fend for ourselves. :headache:
