Yoko to recreate "Cut Piece"

Yoko Ono to Repeat 'Cut Piece' Feat
2 hours, 40 minutes ago

PARIS - Lots of things have been done in the name of world peace. Here's one that hasn't been tried in nearly 40 years.

Yoko Ono (news) will invite an audience today in Paris to cut off her clothing with scissors in the name of world peace. The "Cut Piece" performance repeats a legendary show she did in 1964, well before she met and married late Beatles' star John Lennon (news).

The 70-year-old Ono will stand on stage alone and ask each member of the audience to silently cut a piece of her clothing and "send it to the one you love."

Ono says the events since Nine-Eleven have made her feel "terribly vulnerable." She says the performance is her hope for world peace.

That is just wrong.

How is a naked 70 year old woman supposed create peace in the world? I'm not getting this one....

At least she is true to form. And thankfully, she's not singing.

ROFL She sings (if you can call it that) in the key of "nails on a blackboard."

I saw her on Conan O'Brien's show a few months ago...taking off her clothes in a black bag on the floor. Conan was very kind about not totally mocking her. She calls it performance art. I call it STUPID (kind of like this week's episode of Sex in the City that had the woman sitting on the shelf for a week - in the name of art).

I'm happy I don't have to look at Yoko naked (or otherwise).

That just doesn't seem quite right. But, since I am trying to be less judgemental in my old age, I guess to each his own.

She can get away with it because she's Yoko One. If I (or any other Average Joe) did this, we'd be locked away!
