Hi Carol, welcome back !! Glad you are feeling up to joining us for a bit. I have no idea why the thread titles are changing...I'm just going with it ;)

We are headed out this morning for a week camping with friends. We usually let the girls take turns bringing a friend along. My middle daughter (12) and her BFF have been talking for months about the trip and are soooo excited. We are pitching a tent next to the motorhome for them so they have their own private space.

This morning the friend is dropped off and her mom informs us that her husband didn't realize they were sleeping in a tent and she isn't allowed to sleep outside. He is paranoid about his little girl. So the only way she can come is if she sleeps on the floor inside the MH.

Now I can understand a father being protective. We don't let the girls sleep out in the tent alone and we would never set it up somewhere where we felt unsafe. But the fact that they drop this on us an hour before we are leaving is upsetting. We have the tent/air mattresses all loaded and ready to go. I would NOT have let her invite a friend for a whole week knowing that we had to rearrange all of our sleeping spaces. So there will now be 2 adults, 4 kids and 2 dogs sleeping inside the 36 ft MH. We CAN make it work, but it is a big inconvienance and I am annoyed to have this dropped on me last minute.

i'd head out of town past her house. send her in to get her bathing suit, then vroooom

I would have said how sorry I was that wasn't going to work out. I'm sure the daughter would've pitched a good enough fit that he would've agreed to letting her sleep in a tent. That IMO was pretty rude of him to do.

They are obviously not camping people! It's not like she was going to be in a tent, all by herself! Are they afraid somebody's going to come in the middle of the night and kidnap both the kids at once?

And, really, if somebody wanted to do harm, is a MH that much safer than a tent? If someone REALLY wanted to break in, they could very easily.

Could you offer to let one of the dogs sleep in the tent with them? We always had our dog sleep in our son's tent at night, so he wouldn't be alone.
