It must have worked I don't remember any plagues being blamed on fleas.

Bubonic plague is carried and transmitted by fleas, and the prairie dogs are the unsuspecting hosts for these fleas. Believe it or not, there are several cases of Bubonic plague every year in the United States. Fortuneately, it can be treated with antibiotics. I used to have to put up signs that warned of the plague in the areas of the colonies.

I wonder if that's why they took out the Prairie dog exhibit at the local zoo??:confused3

Okay, so figure out how I managed to answer Ami's post before she even wrote it??????

Ft. Hunter Liggett. Irwin was the big city to us.

:rotfl2:

I had to look that one up - never heard of it, or maybe I killed off those brain cells with alcohol!

If Irwin was the big city, man that thing must be remote. They housed us in condemned barracks for the few days we weren't in the field. Conditions were better in the field, even given the fact that sand was in everything.

Back when the Hearst family owned most of California, this place was William Randolph Hearst's hunting estate. He had this 30,000 sq ft "cottage" built on the property for this actress he was having an affair with, which became the O club and the commanding officer's quarters. There were only 8 officers assigned there. It was under CDEC, which I don't think exists anymore. Most of the officers were quartered in Hearst's chicken coops, but they didn't have one for me so I lived about 25 miles away in King City. It looked like Korea there, and in fact the opening to the MASH television series was filmed there, althought the series itself was filmed in the hills around LA.

Useless fact for today - and this is an EEEEEEEW:

The average human eats 8 spiders in their lifetime at night.

I think I need to give up. Whatever I type goes to the end of the thread..... like the bottom of the barrel...... Pretty soon I'm going to get hurt feelings or something.:worried:

That spider tid bit is just vomitrocious. Living in the woods like I do, my number is probably greater than average. I'm going to sleep with my mouth taped shut now.

I also want to add that it's good to know that FtWGuy does not have fleas.::yes::

OK, this is just messed up, it's hard enough trying to keep up with everything, now that they are getting mixed up, it's darn near impossible.

I think we should all hang out at my place today (Hint hint hint) ;)

It's a time code thing, I went to the tech section, and they know they have a problem, some posts are going up with the wrong time stamp, and that makes them post out of order..... LOL.
