Yip - Velocicoaster is the best ever

Am i correct in thinking that EE is a good strategy. if we get here by 745 can we be off of ride by 845? we are there this weekend...
Have a great trip and can’t wait to see how you liked it:flower:
We mostly did Hagrid’s first during EE hours (12/11-15) and then went to the Velocicoaster and it wasn’t so bad most days but if Hagrid‘s is still closed in EE, I wonder if Velocicoaster will be more crowded. On our last day it was only a 20 minute or less wait so YOLO we went two times in a row. The lines didn’t seem to be too bad most nights either.

Just wondering if the line is interesting, and if there is a lot to take in like Forbidden Journey? Is there an exit just before boarding the roller coaster? I don't want to ride the rollercoaster, but my family would. Just was curious if it would be worth lining up and enjoying the visuals in the line and then exiting, or just sitting and waiting outside. Thank-you.

Of course you can walk through and just not ride......

It`s not a bad line to walk through, I wouldn`t say it was exceptional, and not like FJ, but kinda fun. The short show from the actors is decent and quite humorous, but you won`t be missing an awful lot of you don`t do it.

Thank-you for the feedback. Apreciate it!

I would skip the line if not interested in riding. The animatronic raptors in line are the only worthwhile part - they're in the fancy muzzles, but they blink, flare nostrils, jiggle against restraints.

I'd compare it to transformer's queue line. Pretty military-like with tv's and pre-shows.

Evolving restraints are a big thing in coaster development nowadays. For many people - and most coaster junkies - the old over-the-shoulder-harness (OTSH) or "horse-collars" are a literal pain. Even the smoothest coasters (which has actually more to do with the train (rolling stock) and wheels than the track) with these can have that unpleasant head-banging. I love the Hulk, but like on many such rides with those restraints I find myself concentrating so hard on not smashing my ears that I don't really enjoy the ride as much as I used to. Plus I often strain my neck while doing so.

Intamin (the manufacturer of VC) has been very aggressive in the past two decades when it comes to designing new restraint systems that free up the ride experience. Undoubtedly too aggressive at the beginning - but maybe we shouldn't go there, given the hesitancy some have about the ones on VC.

Personally, I think they're brilliant, and are as safe as OTSHs could ever be. An earlier Intamin coaster - Maverick at Cedar Point, which is extremely similar in many respects to VC - took a huge leap forward in comfort when they installed soft OTSHs - that is, all made of material, like big squishy belts, rather than steel with hard padding on it. But these are next gen, and probably the new standard for these type of rides.

Intamin's big rival, B&M (Hulk, Dragon Challenge, etc) has led the way in regards to minimal restraints on their traditional "sit-down" coasters, but those rides - many of which are amongst the best in the world - often don't have the extremes in terms of quickness and elements of a launched Intamin. Come to think of it, I'm not sure if B&M has ever installed a launch - the tires for the Hulk were actually designed in house, or so I've heard, when B&M demurred on handling that part of the ride.

Anyhoo - I think VC is a masterpiece, and probably the best coaster ever built in Florida.

My teens thought this was the best roller coaster but it gave me a bad headache. I want to give it a second chance next time I am there. So far the best roller coaster for me is Cheeta Hunt Tampa BG because it was so thrilling and I had no side effects.

Similar! My daughter thought it was amazing... I enjoyed the ride, but also had some pretty significant nausea/vertigo as it ended. I think it's because it is pretty long without much down time. (Also I did test positive for covid a couple days later, so could have been related to early symptoms.)

We did it! MY DD thought it was the best ride but she noted she feels more comfortable wiht the over the shoulder harness like Hulk. We both did think the restraint was excellent. I am glad I made the decision to leave my glasses in the locker after they almost flew off during hagrid and my 3d glasses flew off during escape from gringotts. We did early entry but did not get in as early as we wanted- still we waited maybe only 30 minutes? Queue was interesting but not amazing.

Velocicoaster is amazing- rode it 6 times on my trip last week. Honestly- I'm 43 and getting a little rickety as I age. A lot of coasters when they get shaky, or have a lot of g forces, they give me a bad headache- had this on Hulk/Rip Rocket which I'd ride once and know I was done for awhile. Velocicoaster NEVER did this. Likely because:
1. It's so ridiculously smooth and
2. It's maneuvers pretty much don't involve much positive G forces that strain the body- that said- it IS all about negative g forces- its all about getting your butt to (ever so slightly) come out of your seat with each maneuver. While that might sound terrifying (and it might be for some), It also never for a second felt unsafe, dangerous, or uncomfortable. Even without over the shoulder restraint (You just get a nice snug lap restraint), you are in very tight. Its not a restraint that has "clicks" where it might frustratingly only reach a "click" that is less than fully tight (Hulk/Rip Rocket), and you just can't get that last reassuring cllick in. It just locks in against you and you are always in tight no matter what (even if your butt is completely clear of the seat half the ride and especially while you rotate going through entire final tight twist over the water where you honestly feel like you are floating while you barrel roll through that thing.

The ride is extremely fast, thrilling, and utterly exhilarating, but also perhaps the most comfortable (and fun) coaster I have been on. I'd recommend for anyone on the fence to face their fears and give this a try. Make no mistake, it IS an extreme thrill ride, but this really might be the one the clicks for you, if others tend to you leave you cold for being too rough and whatnot.

Can anyone tell me if they have a sample of the seats outside of the ride to test if you can fit in it for us Pooh-size peeps? Or is fitting not an issue? I've seen Pammie's Plus sized video for Hagrids so I know there's one there. It's been 16 years since I've been to IOA because I just knew I couldn't fit on a lot of things so didn't feel like paying to wait around for my family the whole time, so I remember how I fit on things at that time, and I'm familiar w/ all Disney rides and my fitability. ;)

They do have a test seat, or at least they did last August. It was right next to the entrance on the right. I know because I tested, and was pleased that I fit.

Yes, there is a test seat.

The seats are quite generous we found, and we`re not small people. However, we did see some people try and not fit, so couldn`t ride.

No one bats an eyelid at folks trying them either, you can`t miss the test seat either.

TY! This was super helpful. 🥰 I wish Disney would put their test seat for FoP anywhere but where it is, straight in the middle of the walkway w the line right there. That’s REALLY embarrassing to do in front of ppl.

Had an absolute blast on this coaster with my son. We rode twice, and my wife rode once. It was a bit too intense (specifically, the zero G moments) for her, but my son and I loved it. I still think I like Hagrids that little bit more, but VC is genuinely something very special. That said, Hulk is probably still my favorite, thanks to the launch/roar. That said, Hulk is an ear-batterer, and this ride is silky smooth. Just some yanking and banking.

Great experience, solid queue, and plenty of looky-loo spots to build anticipation. VC is a real gem.

Planning to leave for UOR 3 weeks from Friday (had to cancel last October and last month as well so really hope this one happens) and I can't wait to see my kids' reaction to this ride!! DH and I went last June and LOVED it. So fun!
