Yikes! How does anyone stay in a studio long term?

Just got to Saratoga Springs last night. Resort is lovely. We are in the springs section and I love the location. But with a teen it feels so small for the 3 of us! With the sofa bed pulled out there is just no room or privacy. I can't imagine stuffing 5 in here! We are only here two nights and then it is off to the Grand Floridian in a one bedroom so it is all good. But hats off to any one who can stay a week with their family in a studio!

Would it feel as cramped in a regular hotel room? I think that's almost the point of the studio except the couch is pullout.

We felt cramped in a hotel room when we only had a 1 year old... So we bought dvc for the 1bd.

Enjoy the 1BR and be glad you weren't moving the opposite direction (1BR > studio) for your split stay!

Even traveling as "a couple" we tend to book a 1BR over a studio. I really like having the living room (I'm a morning bird; DH is a night owl), the full kitchen, etc. Extra space makes for a much more pleasant time together!

Currently we are the opposite. We have a 4 year old and 8 year old and over the years have done multiple 2 week trips in a studio. We would love to have the amenities of a 1 bedroom such as kitchen and laundry but we have never felt cramped. I don't know how this will work when they got older but the ability to use our points most economically is a great feature. Also, we have spent 2 weeks in a 1 bedroom and have went back to a studio because for us more time at Disney is worth more than the amenities

This is what makes me sad about the Polynesian (which I love), but since buying DVC we are spoiled to the one bedrooms for our family of 4. Studios are like regular hotel rooms, which only seem fitting for a couple. Might as well stay in a regular hotel room, and save points for something a little more special and spacious. I hope that is not the new trend. It's great to have a studio option but hate it , if that's all that's offered at a DVC property!

It depends upon the resort. OKW studios are quit roomy and have 2 real queen size beds.
.
We've only stayed at OKW once, in a studio, and strongly disliked the format. Firstly, the triangular layout is awkward; the 2nd bed took up too much floor space and having the kitchenette in the passthrough to the bathroom felt "dirty." Basically, we endured the stay, gritting our teeth the entire time and said, "Let's not repeat this!"

My husband and I will be staying in an OKW Deluxe Studio this July. We are using a friends DVC points. We have already stayed in one bedroom villas at AKL, and at WL. It's only two of us, and we are there for 6 nights. It will be interesting to see how we will feel about it. We are supposed to be in Bldg. 62, with a water view, so it's close to the main pool. Since we are only in our rooms later in the evening and when we get up, we wanted to not use alot of her points this time and try to see if the smaller space works for us.

No we don't. I personally would not buy DVC for studios as I feel the deluxe resort rooms offer better options, with two beds and many times a day bed. We bought DVC strictly to book a 2 bedroom.

I never book less than a one bedroom.

Just be glad you are not in a BLT studio with 3, you would be really cramped. Those in the bed and those on the sofa bed can literally touch either other.

I think that's one that is dependent because I actually don't find the OKW studios roomy, because of the 2 beds. It's a plus for real beds but you can't achieve the room you can in others because there is no sofa bed to put away. Out of all the DVC studios it's the most comparable to a hotel room IMO because there's no sofa seating. It's my least favorite studio layout but can see it being good for those who do want the beds.

Everyone is different. We have been 4 in Value and Mods. Know people that will continue to use 4 at POFQ and love it for 2 weeks. We bought DVC for the extras and the overtime reduction in room costs. Guess we are not there long enough to feel cramped.

Yeah i totally agree with you and would not do a studio for more than 2 and I'm not sure we would even do that as we would miss having the lounge area to relax.

We do a 1 bedroom for 3 and a 2 bedroom for more than 3. We exceptionally last trip did a 1 bedroom for 4 as my older son joined us late and while we managed we hated it.

I personally do not understand the recent trend for 5 in a studio. Frankly if that was the only way we could afford to go we would simply not be going. But we don't do hotel rooms for a family either we rent condos or villas or apartments. Seperate sleeping space is important as is more than 1 bathroom.

We bought DVC to be more comfortable

There's only two of us and we prefer the one bed which gives us the flexibility of one of us going to bed early or getting up early. I also like having the kitchen for breakfast and some meals.
