Well, yesterday, they replaced my gas waterheater, which also heats my house. It took 2 guys 6 hours to install it and hook it up to the heating system. Well, now this evening I go into the garage, and I smell GAS. Not incredibly strong, but definitely an odor. Ask my 18 year old to go out and see if he smells it...he does. Of course DH is playing with his band tonight, so I have to deal with this. I call the gas company... he talks me thru shutting down the water heater. He says if he came out right now, it would be $100 bucks and thats all he would be able to do. He says call at 8am, or call him at home if the odor gets worse. Well, we opened up the garage door to air it out. Like I said, it wasn't real bad but you could smell it. My tank is at 18 %. I know a low tank can cause an odor. This is the first house I've had gas in..it scares me. Hope we are okay for the night!

That doesn't sound good, and if the guy did something wrong installing it you shouldn't have to pay for another visit.

BTW, I have some extra duct tape here if you need it -

I'm selling for $45 per roll.:p

Seriously, gas is nothing to play with. Leaving the door open will stop any build up, but you need to be sure where the source is.
