YIKES!! Check in time can take up to 2 hours??

I checked in at POP during check-in time (was hoping to get there a bit early, but wasn't able to) and waited no more than 30 minutes. I've never heard of anyone waiting for 2 hours.

when I checked into POFQ last may, it took about 15 to 20 minutes

piece of cake

this time we arrive at like 11 PM...so I hope it isnt too long

I have had to wait up to an hour to check in. Most recently in January my DH, DSD24, DD2 and I went down for a week at AKL. We got in Friday night around 11:30 pm and it took an hour to check in because there were so many people on line (there was a home builders' convention and the number of people it attracted was huge) and only a few CMs doing the checking in. Once I got to a CM, the process went quickly and efficiently however. A few years ago at POR it took a while to check in, again because of the number of people checking in and the paucity of CMs. But other times I've been the only person checking in and it's gone very quickly. Basically the only answer is: it varies.

Our first trip to Disney was in Aug. 2000. We were doing the 7 days land/cruise vacation, so we came in on the cruiseline bus and waited almost 2 hours, after being on the cruiseline bus for about that long too.

It was a rough start to what did turn out to be a magical and wonderful vacation. However, I was NOT impressed at all with CBR. The long check in was only the beginning - we were then given a smoking room, which luckily we found out from the CM taking us to our room. He went back and switched us and we wound up being in the furthest building away you can be. Hated the location. Stayed 4 nights and never did see the main pool or dining area.

We are giving Disney property another try though. We're staying at WL this August and chose it partially for the fact that it only has 700 some rooms, not 2000+ like CBR does. Let's hope it's better this go around!

I only had to wait in line for check in...more than 5 hours..one time. I had a very, well, lets just say, not a very bright castmember. She had pulled up the wrong reservation, I told her it wasn't me, showed ID..she didn't believe me, just kept trying to check me in, saying I owed money, the works. This other person, same name as me was from Canada, booked through a TA, me, from US, booked myself. It was a total nightmare. I only hope when my "double" checked in, she didn't have the trouble I had.

This past December, it took us 90 minutes to check in at the Contemporary! We arrived about 9:15 p.m. and I was the only one in line. There was only one person at the desk doing check-in so I thought it would go fairly quickly. After waiting about 20 minutes in line, I interrupted and said "excuse me, is there anyone else that can help me with check in?" This person got on the phone and within a couple minutes 3 people came out from the back. By then there were several people in line behind me. I thought it would be quick after that but I was wrong! The three people that came out helped the next 3 families in line.

To make a long story short, I left the counter at 11:45 p.m. to head up to our room and the family that arrived right after me was still at the counter when I left and it didn't looked like there situation would be resolved anytime soon. The problems they were having were unbelievable.

To top this off, when I went to charge on my room key the next morning it was denied. The cashier had me call the front desk and they said they had no record of payment on my reservation! I had to go back to the front desk and spend another hour and 15 minutes! Apparently during the problems the night before they got to a point where they thought it would be easier to give me a new ressie and start over with my room tickets, etc. but they failed to transfer the money over from the first ressie.

After that, everything was fine. My check-out bill looked like a road map when I was trying to match credits and debits up though.

We get a Fast Pass for check-in, therefore avoiding the standby wait!! :rotfl2:

Sorry, couldn't resist, plus we got up to 53 degrees today in CT!! :sunny:

wow, what is up with cbr? thats the only resort that we had trouble with. check in was about 30-45 minutes, but we had 2 rooms and only one set of keys that would work(all 8 keys fit one room). called the front desk, about 30 minutes later we were sent a 2nd set of keys SAME ROOM, called again, waited another hour, called again, sent 3rd set SAME ROOM KEYS, went to front desk, waited another 15 min. spoke to manager, she did give me a credit on our room, but i would have much rather had better service. very fast check in at cr and asmu.

Up to 2 hours!! That's a looong time to be in line just to check-in!

:rotfl: :rotfl2: I guess I will use the Fast Pass for this one!!

Our last stay was at the WL Dec 8. We arrived about 4:30 pm to an almost deserted lobby and no lines anywhere--still can't figure out why it took almost 50 minutes to check us in? At one point I wondered if the CM was some sort of robot and needed her batteries replaced! I mean, she would just stand there and stare at the screen for minutes at a time, never a comment to us, such as "this system is slow today", or anything to acknowledge that this wasn't standard operating procedure. Several times she left and went into some back room without saying anything, then came back without so much as an apology. If that's standard to take over 50 minutes to check in one guest its lucky there wasn't a line or some people would be standing there yet! The whole computer reservation system at Disney is in serious need of updating. It just can't handle the loads placed on it. However, be that as it may, I really felt the CM could have been a little more polite and at least acknowledged that we were not receiving the type of service we were entitled to.

Yes, we have waited in line for more than an hour to check in, at POR. Unfortunately, that was DH's first trip to POR (It was 12:45-2:00). However, that type of wait is VERY unusual. That was one time out of about 24 check-ins at 10 different WDW resorts. At no other time has there been more than a 15-20 minute wait. Occassionally, it's been no wait.
