I think I'm the only person who is happy that Harry Potter world is not going to be open when we visit!! It will surely keep the crowds down! Going w/my daughter & GS (4) first week of June, staying on-site, so the lines were not really my issue- just wasn't looking forward to the massive crowds!

 Doing the happy dance  - Harry Potter is opening the end of June! Horray!! Everyone change those reservations to after June 18th!!!!!

I wonder if any spring breakers will change thier plans now? We are going the week after Easter, and I hate crowds...

I am soooooo happy they pushed back the date. I will be there May 22 - June 1 and was dreading the crowds it would bring. Hopefully everyone will push their plans back.

There is no guarantee when WWOHP will be first opened to the public. If you are there at the beginning of June, it is going to be very much open to some degree, due to the previously advertised packages for on-site stays from May 28th onwards. The grand opening is on the 16th of June, but as per the Simpsons ride etc, it will most likely be opened before this date. We will just have to wait and see.

The ride will most likely be open for your dates.

In the theme park world, the Grand Opening date doesn't mean it's the first day they turn the damn thing on and let guests on it.

There will likely be weeks and weeks of technical rehearsals and soft openings, along with team member previews and possibly passholder previews.

We'll be there that week too. Before our Dis Cruise on 4/8...

I would have like to have seen Harry Potter, but we'll live since my kids are either too old or too young to be interested in that.

The ride sounds cool though.

True...but if someone canceled their trip thinking it won't be open then it won't bring in those crowds.

I do still think its going to be busy though.

I am headed May 30th and hoping its not open personally. I would like to walk around and see stuff but I have no ambition to ride till Aug with all the kids in one trip.

I agree I am happy and also hoping that it pushes crowds back some-I guess we will see. We will be there the same time and I am hoping for the best!

Even if i dont get to ride FJ, i would love to be able to walk through HP and see the stores and sets... :rolleyes1 So, Im just a little disappointed. we will be there starting this Sunday, March 28th thru April 4th.

I am also glad that the opening is scheduled for mid-June. We are not interested in seeing this so we are planning a trip for early-mid May in hopes of having some of the smaller crowds. We had passes to use on our last Disney trip but never did make it up to Universal, so we wanted to use them up before this opened. It's going to be pure crazy after this ride opens.

:thumbsup2

Our next trip will probably be in July or August. If we can get in easily we will but just like HRRR we won't wait in some insane line, it's not worth it to us.

I have no choice. My daughter has dreamed about Hogwarts for years...when she was little she swore I stole her owl that invited her to attend!! :confused3. She thought it was " real " ...well, now it is:banana:

It would be nice to be able to see the newest attractions but please prepare me! We are going to be at the parks for the first time at the end of August (22nd to the 28th) do you still think it will be crazy at that time as well?

The crowds will probably be bad through Labor Day weekend when school starts.

I can't answer that. I am usually at Disney/Orlando in late May/June..my kids start school so early they are out a week before Mem. day and then we take off. Less crowds to fight. The weather is more bearable too...the one time I went in July I swear my shoes melted to the pavement...worse than anything I have ever experienced in Vegas.

Fair enough, only I thought schools in the States started before our schools in Canada. Our school year starts after Labor Day. Regardless, any educated guess how long the FOTL will be generally at that time of the year?

I think you'd be looking at 20-25 minutes for Express at a minimum for most attractions at IoA and MUCH longer for standby. The increased wait times would be from the overflow of people coming to see WWoHP. It will have a trickle affect on the other lines as well.

Schools in the states start different times.

For instance, we always start the Tues before Labor Day. Where my Mom lives (and I went to school) about 15 min away, they start AFTER Labor Day.

I know the governor signed a bill some years ago that Fla schools could not start before Aug 20. One year they started Aug 9th! (i remember because that's my birthday and my nieces and nephew were starting school that day  )

So...it varies greatly here in the ole USA.

I'm pretty much feeling this way too. I was a little disappointed that we won't get to see HP, but since we've never been to Universal before, everything else will be new to us! I am really looking forward to what everyone makes sound like a nice, easy-paced vacation. I think once HP opens, that won't be happening for a while! So our family will be enjoying our FOTL pass and lower crowds at the end of next month :thumbsup2 Then, we'll do HP another year...
