I thought I read somewhere that the Yeti on EE was down for good..is that correct? Just wondering if anyone who has been there recently has seen him.

Yeti was in B mode (visible with strobe light but not moving) on June 26th.

Fixing the Yeti so that it moves will likely require downtime due to the fact that the foundation the Yeti is on is cracked.

I guessing that the Yeti will STAY in it's non moving status until the ride has a shut down refurbishment on the order of Space Mountain's last year or maybe even Star Tours' this year into next. To fix the foundation the Yeti is on, I'm sure will require complete removal of said yeti, and a complete re-engineer and re-build of said foundation and re-installation of said yeti.:scared1:

Lots of work....but oh how I would love to see the yeti in it's "A" mode

I swear I saw her move, she and Bigfoot were running around down near the beach, said something about meeting up with Nessie for a late night rave at the Easter Bunnies pad. I hear its gonna be wild..........

i could be speaking out my yeti, but i find this absurd that they haven't fixed yeti yet.

being in construction, i find it difficult to believe that there aren't multiple approaches to fixing the yeti.

IMHO it comes down to money. Are they willing to spend what it takes to get it fixed? there are all types of reinforcing, epoxys, anchors, high yield concrete, quick yielding concrete, groutes, structural framing, etc...

If they really wanted to take care of it, structural engineering could hash out a design and a small army of tradesmen could execute the plan.

if concrete and steel skyscrapers can be reinforced and repaired after an earthquake, yeti can be fixed too.

Maybe Disney thinks AK needs a new major ride before they can shut down EE for an extended period of time. Hard for me to disagree.

"speaking out my yeti" -- you are just tooo funny :lmao: I'll have to use that in the next YETI thread I see ... ha ha.

I was wondering if Disney just doesn't want to hear the hue and cry that will occur if EE is shut down for major refurbishment. Maybe they are waiting for something else "major" to need repaired. :scared1: MAJOR!!! OMG that sounded ominous ... ok ... just an additional repair ...

Anyway ... I am so glad I got to see LIVE YETI in 2006! Betti the Yeti is awesome! :thumbsup2

Has she updated her face book status?

Oh not that status.

Has she updated her face book status?

Yup.

Betti D. Yeti has a stiff back. They make me stand still for hours now with that stupid light flashing in my face. I wish they'd fix the harness so I can scare some kids! Sno-cone anyone?

first they need something else major to repair. I suppose Dinosaur could qualify.

again, speaking out of my yeti here...but they can work on the structural support for yeti behind the scenes with minimal or no shutdowns until they do the final phase. steel and concrete work can be done by hand and in small increments. with the time they have taken already, yeti could have been fixed. there has to be some other reason why they are choosing not to get yeti fully operational again.

A couple things to note... First... The waits for this ride easily exceed 1 hour daily. That shows me there is a demand to ride it, so why would Disney shut it down if the demand is still there...even if it does "take away" from the ride...which I don't think it does. People don't ride it to see a Yeti move. Just my opinion...

Secondly...who are we to lay out how they can fix it and not shut the ride down? No one knows exactly how the support is tied into everything. I read an article months ago that stated the Yeti is on it's own support seperate from the ride and mountain, but who knows how it's all tied in or what work needs to be done. Or would the ride and vibrations impact the concrete and support work on the Yeti? I don't know and I'd venture no one on here would know either unless they're working on it or have worked on it.

With that being said...I don't see them shutting this ride down. Most people never rode the ride with a moving Yeti, so they don't know what they're missing... I'm sure it will stay like it is until it needs a regularly scheduled refurb and then at that time they'll shut the ride down and fix it all.
