My son is 7 almost 8 and very tall. he wants to go on the the Yeti roller coaster at Animal Kingdom. How is it? Is it intense? I am probably asking more for me and my husband since we are getting chicken as we get older!

if he doesnt mind going backwards and going down small hills hes fine.
can he do thunder mountain or space mountain? if yes then dont worry about Expedition Everest!

everyone makes such a big deal out of this ride and it isnt even that great... it doesnt go fast (space mountain and thunder mountain are faster) there arent any HUGE drops and you only go backwards for like 20 seconds. i didnt even see the yeti! i was soooo dissapointed in this ride! but its really smooth and everything so i think a 7 year old would be fine!

I personally think this ride is more intense than thunder mtn or space mtn. If you're really worried about it though, I'd say try to get a seat near the front of the train...it's slower up there because you're waiting on the other cars to catch up (well, for most of the ride). My hubby is not a thrill ride fan, and he likes this coaster just fine.

I have been on this ride plenty of times. LOL
I have seen many and many little kids riding this ride and they love it! It is more intense then space mountain and thunder mountain. It's a very fun ride and i'm sure he will won't to do it over and over again!
Good Luck!

Depends on your child. My kids (son & daughter) hated it. I even showed them the EE videos on YouTube before our first trip. Their biggest complaint was going backward in the dark. My daughter STILL talks about that ride and how she's never riding it EVER, EVER again (did I mention she didn't like it?)! We were there this past December (she's 9) and there was no way she was getting on it. I, on the other hand, think it's a great ride.

BTW, I hear the Yeti is having some issues and isn't moving anymore and is going to require some maintenance. You only see him for a second but it's still cool when it looks like he's trying to grab you. Might be better for the kiddies if he doesn't do that!

It is more intense than Big Thunder and Space. I think most kids do fine with it, but it's very individual. I'd see how he does on BT and Space and go from there. The backwards part is also in the dark, so if the darkness on Space bothers him he probably won't like EE. My SIL just took her 7 YO on it and he hated it, but my kids at that age loved it, so you'll have to judge for yourself! Good luck!

If you have any Motion Sickness issues this ride may get to you.
The backward g-force gave me a terriable headache which in Turn
caused my stomach to get upset--took 3 hours after riding to ease up.
When I was much Younger could handle this with no problems but I find the older I get the more Motion sickness I get.

Which Expedition Everst did you ride?:confused3

Per www.rcdb.com

Space Mountain.......max speed 27 mph minor drops
Thunder Moantain....max speed 36 mph no real drops
Expedition Everest....max speed 50 mph with a 90 foot drop

EE is no Millennium Force or Steel Phantom but its still more intense than SM or TM.

I agree it depends on your child. My son has grown up at Disneyland/Knott's Berry Farm and so when he was 8 , went on EE and loved it.
My older dd was more apprehensive though. ( She was 13 at the time.) Show the You Tube videos and talk about the ride and if they decide not to go, then leave it alone. I'm sure there will be other trips.
I still have one child who won't be riding with us yet! :0)

It is more intense then TM or SM, as PP have said. My one of my Dsis favorite rides is TM, I got her to go on EE with me once. Never again, in fact I'm pretty sure I got punched for making her go on it with me.... I think it honestly depends on the kid. I would ride it first and see what YOU think.
