Is there a monster that pops out in EE at AK? My daughter wants to go on the ride, but said she does NOT want to see the yeti. Can you tell me about where in the ride it is so she can "hide"? Thanks so much!

Just tell her to close her eyes after the big drop. You can actually watch a video of the thing on YouTube so you know when it happens.

You see a Yeti shadow early in the ride, tearing up the tracks, but that shouldn't be too upsetting...

The Yeti has been having "technical difficulties" and has not been operating for a while. It just stands there now, but the strobe lights are so weak and you go by it so fast that you can't even see it unless you know exactly where it is and you're looking really hard for it. It might help if you squint, tilt your head sideways, and say "I believe in Yeti" 3 times, but that hasn't been proven as effective yet. :rotfl:

:rotfl2: I'll try it!

I did not even notice it, nor did my family when we were there in Feb.

My DD hated dinosaur because of surprises

:rotfl: :rotfl2: - Maybe this is the effect Disney Imagineers were looking for...Discovery's Monster Quest is always out there looking for Bigfoot - why not have the ride be the same looking for they Yeti.

we just went in March and my DS 7 was too afraid to ride, it was my first time riding so I didn't know what to expect. It is not scary, you barely notice it and my DS 9 missed it entirely. He liked the first projected image of the yeti at the beginning and actually laughed b/c he was afraid to ride after watching the you tube video prior to our trip. We spent the rest of the trip trying to convince my 7 year old to no avail though :( I wish he hadn't known about the yeti b/c he would have loved the ride but physched himself out all because of you tube, LOL! After reading the previous post about technical difficulties, it makes sense, because the ride was not intense at the end at all and I couldn't even make out the whole yeti shape, but I had watched the video and sort of knew what to expect and then I was confused when it didn't happen, LOL!

My 9 year old was so scared she almost wet her pants waiting in line to go.:rotfl2: When the ride was over, all she could say was "lets go again!!" It was great fun, even for someone that was scared to death.

The ride is going fast and you are having so much fun that unless you consciously think about ti you aren't even going to notice it.

IMO all this telling kids everything about a ride does more harm than "it's a coaster and fun with Disney theming, let's go" that we used to do.

when properly working you cannot miss the Yeti and you literally feel like this 25 foot howling creature is going to rip your head off.:scared1:

but alas, the Yeti is now confined to snoozing in a dark corner with a quick glimpse being given by flashing disco lights.
