My family and I will be going to WDW in May. My DS will be one month shy of 3 years old and my DD will be 11 months. I am having a heck of a time trying to decide which type of stroller to take with us. I will definitely need a double for toddlers in some shape or form. I have a side by side now but my DS's head is just touching the top of the canopy so it will not be an option in May unless I cut a hole in the top!:D LOL!! Anyway the decision is driving me nuts so I thought I would ask all of you wonderful people here on the Dis boards what type of luck you have had with double strollers. I guess the options are the following:
1. A double jogger (I am not sure if this reclines well....haven't seen any with cup holders although I am sure attatchments could be bought........Is it too wide to manuver through doors? How is the canopy? Ages?
2. A front to back. Is this called a tandem?( Can the child in the back see anything? Is it really heavy? How well does it recline? What are the ages? I have seen some really cool ones but I just don't know about the poor kid who sits in the back!
3. two lightweight strollers held together with purchased attatchments. I guess this could work okay if the attachments hold. I think a plus for this is that this could detatch easy enough to fold them both easier and we could fit through doors okay. Wouldn't be stuck with a bulky double if just scooting out with one child somewhere...

If you could post with your experiences I would certainly apprieciate it!!! Name brands? Any other ideas too.....

Thank you all so much!
:D :D :D

Other posts have indicated that jogging strollers are not permitted any longer. How about two umbrella strollers? Two adults, two kids - right? Those big, ol' honkin' strollers are tough to handle in a crowd. Plus nearly impossible to get on the buses and monorail.

Jean,

When DD - was eight months and other DD was 2, I used the "limo" which was a double front to back. It was not that bad to use, in addition, it folded up really nice. We were able to get around the park and the stores with no problem. Also, I could pull a "quick change" in the back of the limo when necessary.

The following year, we opted for two umbrella strollers. That was great.

Good luck deciding.

not umbrella. you will need them to be able to recline when they crash and you want to keep going. if your side by side reclines, i would just keep the canopy closed for your toddler and only open it when hes reclined and sleeping.

When we were at WDW in March, a CM did not let someone take in their side-by-side jogging stroller because it would not fit through the gate. At the time they said the stroller had to be able to fit through the gate in an open position. They told the person to go to stroller rental and they would store his stroller and let him use a double for the day.

Hi Jean,
Since I just went through the same dilemna, I can tell you what helped me decide on a stroller for my girls. I eliminated the idea of a jogging stroller since I really don't need one where I live (roads are all paved) and I didn't want to worry about fitting through doorways (esp. at the mall). Plus with the debate lately about whether or not jogging strollers are or are not allowed in WDW you never know what the policy may be by May.

We bought a Graco Duo-Glider (Front to back) and have loved it. It is a bit heavy though and it does take up a lot of room (fits fine in our caravan though). We have never had a problem with the youngest being able to see out of the seat in the back, since the seat is raised a bit. The seat in the back fully reclines, the one in the front reclines partially. Both seats hold up to 40 lbs I think. It is very easy to steer and I can get around just about everywhere in the mall since it is skinny enough to fit through those skinny aisles.
Having said all this we are not taking it to WDW for two reasons-it is big and will not fit in a full size rental car with all of our luggage(upgrading to a bigger car/van is not in the budget) and reason two it is heavy and I don't want to have to lug it around on and off buses/transportation etc.
So I just bought a double umbrella stroller (Kolcraft)for $50 to take to WDW. It is light, reclines and has a canopy. I've added cupholders and storage bags. The girls have tried it out and seem comfortable. Taking two strollers was not an option since it will just be me at times with the girls. Since you have four adults in your party two strollers could work. If you want to check out the stoller connectors-I just saw them at Babies R Us.

Good Luck!

We have a Graco Duo Glider with stadium seating and we took it with us to disney in may ,it worked out great! It is heavy, but the only time we had to fold it up was on the tram from the parking lot. I got on with the kids, then he put the folded stroller on , then he got on, It was very easy! We put our oldest in the back because there is more leg room there, and he can see fine-he's 3 1/2. :) :) :) :)
