I have looked through the Swan FAQ - and have stayed there for one night a couple years ago - Here is the questions.

1. I am Starwood Gold and booked the $99 Labor Day special (leaving Saturday for 8 wonderful but probably hot nights!!!) I noticed that when I check reservations at SPG.com it says under Room description View of Crescent Lake, but under Room Amenities it used to say Lake View and now says Resort View with Balcony - what do you think my view will be and if it is Resort View with Balcony, how good is the view.

2. I have another party arriving one night later than us and leaving a night earlier - I booked there room for them so it is probably under Starwood Gold - anyhow, FAQ says rooms with balconies alternate with non-balcony unless lower than 3rd Floor - is the resort view much worse below 3rd floor? I assume it is.

3. Finally, should I fax tonight or just ask at check-in about getting club level privileges? And what are my chances being Starwood Gold. I have noticed the hotel still has availability during my entire stay.

THANKS!!!

L.J.

I can't help a whole lot, but at least my reply will bump you up.

1. I'd say a resort view with balcony is an upgrade. Our resort view looked over the lake between Swan and Dolphin. The hotel is so long it's hard to say what you will see, but it sounds like they upgraded you.

2. I'm confused. Does the other party have a balcony, too. We were on the fifth floor, and it was nice. The resort is pretty all around, so I don't think lower floors would be a problem.

3. I think your chances are very good for getting club level. It may depend on how many points you have. Also read up on some other threads about what the club level provides. Some people love it, some think it's a waste of points/money. You can go to the www.swandolphin.com website and click on special requests under reservations. Then send in your request. Be sure to include your conf. #, spg #.

You are getting a great rate on a deluxe hotel. Enjoy!!!

There are balcony rooms facing the BWI (east wing) and B/Y Club and if they are on lower floors there could be trees or tall hedges in front of the balcony. There are balcony rooms that face the Dolphin. There are balcony rooms that face the quiet pool (west wing). There are balcony rooms in the central building that face head on to the Dolphin. The Swan doe not have alternating balconies - at least the two wings don't. The Dolphin has alternating balconies.

Our room was in the east wing 6th floor - our view was the lake between the S and D and of the Dolphin. It was absolutely beautiful at night. I am spg gold and we were upgraded from a standard King room to a Jr. Suite. We had three windows + the sliders. The view was panoramic!

Last summer, we stayed at the Dolphin and were comp upgraded to CL on the 2 rooms I booked with the teacher rate. So, anything is possible. Do fax or email your request.

Good luck with your plans!
