So I've been going back and forth saying I'm bringing our own...to nah we'll just rent. Now I'm back to wanting to bring our own. Well...ok maybe purchasing one for the trip. We currently have the clunky big ol Graco.....as great as it is for him to nap him...I honestly think if he's tired enough he'll nap in just about anything......well maybe just about anything.
So...here are my needs...
He's 40 lbs 41 inches and 3 years old....he's big I know....
I need something affordable...and when I say affordable I mean close to 50. Can anyone reccommend something to me. I need to start shopping around....thanks:goodvibes

Off hand I don't know of any strollers under $50. Unless you are looking for an umbrella stroller. Places you can begin to look are on craiglists, freecycle, ebay, overstock maybe you can get lucky at a garage sale. Perhaps you can try WalMart or Target. Have you done a search on line? I know Graco has two smaller lightweight and compact strollers where the seat still reclines but I believe they are at least over $100. Sorry I am not much help.

My advice on stroller shopping, decide what matters to you, ie storage, reclining et al, then to go toys r us, bsbies r us or target and see what they have. Or, ask around, maybe someone you know has one you can borrow,

My advice from taking my 3 1/2 yr old, he is small for his age, but I would NOT lug another stroller around. Just have him wake up and walk to the tram for your car, or have DH carry him ;). I did carry my son at the end of the day from the park enterance but he was 30lbs.

You can rent a stroller in one park and keep it through DTD and CA and with a Disney Visa it was free. ;) Plus not wait line on reentery.

Thank you so much for all those links....and yea I think we need to go "test driving" soon.

Yes, I would definitely try to get a cheaper one that you could use again! We have the Graco umbroller in Princess pattern and it has been great for us. It has a cup holder, reclines, has a canopy, a decent basket, and has a Disney pattern!! What more could I ask for. But I don't think they sell them anymore, they used to have a Mickey one and I wish I had bought it for later use so DS doesn't have to be in a princess one!!!

The best part was it was only $35!!

I don't have a DH to help share in the child carrying duties. :confused3
I think that's what's making me stress about this....single moms kinda play the role of both mom and dad.:sad1:

Here is what we did.

I brought in an umbrella stroller, just a cheap 10 one. We were staying accross the street and neither DH or I wanted to carry our 3 y/o at the end of the day!

We have a Disney Visa so we took advantage of the free rental. I parked the cheap stroller in Fantasyland or Tomorrowland each day and used the rental in the park as it was much nicer. At the end of the day we picked up our cheap one and headed out of the park.

Did I miss something? I hope no one upset you!! I do have a DH but he rarely goes with due to crazy work schedules so I kinda feel your pain when on vacation. I am alone with 3 little ones while there, and that was a big reason I said in your situation, I would NOT rent! You need that for going to/from hotel!

Oh no Andrea..no one upset me at all....I apologize if it seemed that way. Honestly there's so much excitement into planning a dland trip and all.....but I still "think" of how it would have been if it were the "family" going that's all.

Oh good!! No I just wanted to make sure. You and your son are going to have a fabulous time together. My kids cry sometimes on the way to Disney (I know that sounds insane but it's true) because they wish there dad was coming. It's hard to explain to a 3 and 6 year old that we wouldn't even be going if Daddy didn't stay home to work. The other day my DD 6 was crying at dinner just talking about the trip because there is certain rides (TOT, etc.) that she won't go on unless she is with Dad!

I'm not trying to pretend I understand your situation because I know it's harder than I could ever imagine. But on a vacation level I kinda do. It is hard being the only one there, let me know if there's anything I can do to make it easier for you!

We have a Graco lightweight stroller. It has all the function of the larger "baby"strollers but it's so light and compact. My must haves were a tray the ability to recline (in case I wanted to climb in) and a large storage area underneath. Mine has all this. Unfortunately they discontinued it so I dont have any recommendations but I'm sure there are a few out there like that. We only paid $39 for it. Now we only use it for DL. Ds3 calls it the Mickey stroller.

I would DEFINITELY briing one. A day at DL can be tiring for the little ones and it will get tiring for you to carry him as well. Esp at the end of the day! When we go without Dh my son usually falls asleep in the stroller. Well you know how heavy a sleeping child can be I'm sure. Cute to hold for a little while but for an hour no way. I lay him back inthe stroller and browse through the shops at my leisure. Thankfully dd likes to shop too!

Sounds like you have a great trip planned. You will have so much fun with your son. :woohoo:

By the way dd was that size at 3 so I understand the "big" child thing. Def have a stroller!!!!

I've never rented one so I can't comment on that!

I also recommend the Graco lightweight strollers. I've got a 2.5 year old Graco lite rider that I LOVE. Ours was a little pricier then you're looking for (I think I paid $130) but I googled and found this, which looks like the same 'frame' as my stroller, but different wheels and less elaborate padding. But I do love ours (well, did when we used it, my girls are 6 and 8 now). It's narrow enough, has a large basket, tray for the child and parent, is easy to fold (actually....I have to help confused Daddies trying to fold these to get on the tram ALLLL the time LOL).

Oh, and I also wanted to say that you should check Ebay and Craigs list. You may find something fabulous for super cheap.

Oh! See, I didnt know that when I gave the advice last week about renting! NO WAY would I be stuck at the end of the night to carry a 40 lb sleeping child, along with dragging my own tired behind, too. You are one smart girl... buy an easy to fold, lightweight stroller to fit your needs. Now, just have to figure out your needs. I dont know what you think about used things... but I personally have sold a jogger for $50 that would have been perfect for you. Do you have a section in your classifieds for this? (Used is no worse than renting one!) Good luck to you, and just make sure you figure this out soon so you dont have the stress with you when you actually step off the plane! :thumbsup2
