Yet Another Room Request Question

Last Oct we checked into Board Walk on rented DVC points on a Wed for a 10 day stay. We wanted a room in a section called Village Green or Courtyard. Nothing was available that day but a CM named Megan checked with her super and came back with an offer to move us there on our 4th day, paying a cleaning fee. We jumped at it. This Nov we're back for 9 days, checking in on a Thurs. I read a post here that claimed that room assignments were decided 3 days ahead which, if true, might mean that any Sat checkins would get all the rooms being checked out leaving nothing for us to switch to by Thurs. Would I be able to call BW early in our checkin week and see if I can get this all arranged in advance? If so, what sort of CM should I ask for?

Thanks,

No They no longer (and for a long time haven't) take telephone calls. Your best bet is to have the request noted on your reservation by the owner you rented the points from and then ask again when you arrive.
I don't think your chances are any worse on a Thursday. The Villas run at near 100% occupancy, by design, year round. Folks check in and out each day
Good Luck

Room assignments are usually handled no more than 3 days in advance, you are correct there. However, the resort doesn't have the staffing to handle the thousands of phone calls regarding room assignments that are handled each day. Like the above poster suggested, just call the reservation line and make sure they've added your requests to the reservation. They are just requests though, there are a number of factors that come into play as to if you can get the room you've requested, and it isn't just limited to if someone is already checked into that room. I've also heard rumor that some resorts have had to stop pre-assigning rooms due to staffing and instead assign your room at check-in. So it's possible that your room may not be assigned until the day you arrive. With that in mind, I'd recommend utilizing the online check-in service as well. This way your reservation can be checked in and reviewed by a cast member early that day.

Thanks for the replies, my DVC owner did note my request when she made the ressie. My approach will be to check in online, roll up to the desk and if 'our' room isn't available that day I tell them, truthfully, that last year I was offered to switch rooms and that I'd gladly pay for the same this year.

And, on the other hand, you could very well be lucky and be assigned a VG view villa that someone is vacating on Thursday! I really like this area of villas...one of my favorites. So, sure, ask for it when booking, have it noted on your reservation, and then ask for it again, when you get there. Nothing ventured, nothing gained.
