Just a quick question. My husband and I will be heading to all star sports. I know we will be getting the mugs, so my question is what is there that we can get with them? Is there a slushie machine? or just soda, coffee, tea fruit punch etc at the drink stations? Am I missing anything? Also will be doing the free dinning. How do I plan? We will be eating most breakfeasts at the food court, and will be trying to use a snack credit. How does one know what is considered a snack verses paying oop?

TIA

Sherry

I'm not sure about the All Stars, but I do know there was an slushie machine at POP when we stayed there in August. At lot of the snack items at the food court at POP and little stickers on them, or a sign next/by them that told they were snack credit items.
Many time for breakfast we got an entire box of doughnuts, they are one snack credit each. It was plenty to hold us over until lunch.

You are not allowed to get a box of donuts with a snack credit any more. Only single serve items are allowed (i.e., ONE donut).

Never been to POP but as last poster sad, everything has a little sign on it. Disney has cracked down considerably with the "box" of XX versus a single serving which is what the snack credit was for. They are VERY aware of what is a snack and what is not. Saying that, perhaps a values they are more lax??

Planning breakfast at food courts OOP is what we usually do, runs about 25 for three, 2 A and a tween for a full breakfast then we use counter for lunch and Ts for dinner. Works for us.

Have a great trip!

I've never stayed at the POP. But the resorts we've stayed at, we can get anything. In the morning my sister and I got hot choclate and lemonade in the afternoon. You may also get slushies. However I dont know about credit on food, Sorry!
Hoped I helped

When did that start? We did this in August :confused3

Thank you all for your replies. I now can get planning!

One more little quick tip... any time you eat a counter service meal at your resort that is covered by the DDP, grab a bottled water (or other bottled drink) as your drink, and use your refillable mug. Then, save the bottled water to bring into the park with you.

unless the policy has changed a snack is considered anything 4.00 or less.

That's not so much an official policy, but more a rule of thumb, and it should actually now read "Any single serve item 4.00 or less". Also, items that would be considered a meal may not be allowed, like a slice of pizza or a turkey leg (either of those might be over 4.00 anyway, can't remember).

On the other hand, some things do count as snack items that might work as a lunchtime mini-meal, like a side of Chili at Casey's, or egg rolls or fried rice at Yak and yeti.

Another suggestion I'd offer is to get a muffin/bagel/danish with your snack credit, and use your refillable mug for coffee/cocoa/lemonade/punch and let that be a makeshift breakfast. I've also heard reports that a single serve cereal and single serve milk carton can count together as a single snack item, but I have not personally confirmed this, and your mileage may vary.

It began in 2008, when they changed the Dining Plan.
A box of donuts is no longer considered a snack credit.

and we've always done it. darn - I need some concrete back-up on this.

Look at the confirmed snack credit list for 2008 (sticky at top of dining plan msg board). This new policy started with the 2008 dining plan, so it started in January. I guess Disney didn't want whole families sharing a single snack any more. So no more large bags of chips, boxes of donuts, etc.

thanks - this stinks! I like the large bags of chips for the room and the pool.

Darn that stinks! I can see the reason behind it, but we were used to do this :( Guess we will have to use our table service for breakfast and have a light snack for lunch.

Why not use your TS at dinner? It's much more cost effective (even if it's free!)

Anyway, regarding the whole change in snack policy, yep, it's just another case of us figuring out a way to come out ahead, and Disney then closing that particular loophole! Happens all the time. But man, it sure was nice while it lasted.

Sorry, typo it was to say counter service! We of course will use our table service at dinner ;)
