Yet Another Reason Why I HATE AirTran

After booking airfare for DH & DS on Sunday, i went to purchase my ticket...it jumped in 2 minutes by $53 bit the bullet & purchased it @ full fare (as in I could book a seat immediately if i wanted to; but couldn't since they have vouchered seats lol).

Today i see the fare has dropped back down. They refused to issue a credit to my CC; only a future credit in my account. Of course, since I won't be able to use it by expiration date.

Evidently, the current policy is only BUSINESS class is issued a $ credit if you call & request a price match .

Add it to their habit of changing flight times w/o notice, etc. SW here I come.

It wasn't that long ago that Airtran wouldn't credit the price difference until after charging a $50/pp change fee (now $60/pp) - so the fact that they will credit the difference is a good sign to me. You have one year from the date you bought your tickets to use the credit.

It states very clearly in the fare restrictions that it's a "non-refundable" fare. I think it's great that they're willing to give you anything at all if the price goes down. As far as not being able to use the credit, you never know what can transpire in the next year. BTW, would you be better off if the fare you originally agreed to never went down??

I had to book tickets for DBIL and his kids and us 4 . 7 total people for SW, when the fare came out for $39 each way, i put in for 7 people, but the flight we wanted was sold out for 7 people. when i put in for 6 people the flight we wanted was available for the $39 each way. i booked it then i had to book DH flight same as our flight but for a higher rate. today the flight going down was $54 and i change DH flight to the same flight but for the lower fare, now i have a credit of $81 for the future. then i checked DD because she has to come home the day before us for a golf tournament and her return flight was cheaper, i just rebooked her flight and i now have additional $30 credit. Moral of the story, i was very mad that i couldnt get all of us the $39 each way, but in the long run the rate has been dropping and i now have a credit. thank you SW!
