So if I buy 250 points today to cover the accomodations that we will need each year. What if the points for the same accomodations in the next year or years it 275 or 300. Do I have to buy more or am I locked into the rates for my pruchase year. And if so are we locked in to this years rates for all DVC resorts?

The total number of points can not change over time. If DVC changes one season to cost more points, then they have to lower another season to cost fewer points. This is one of the best things about DVC IMHO. Inflation proof except for maintenance fees. From what I've heard this has only happened once in DVC history and it was a minor change (wasn't an owner then so I can't say from my own experience).

Unless you now plan on going in September and change in ten years to go over New Year's or you now get a studio and in ten years want a 2BR, the number of points you use should not change.

As a practicle matter, the points will not change. If they rebalance the points, it's unlikely to affect you significantly. The only people that are likely be stuck with a rebalancing are those that plan for off season, Sunday to Friday avoiding weekends and those planning mostly for a studio. That doesn't sound like your situation so you shouldn't need to worry at all. But some years may be more than others so things should even out over time. OTOH, I'd recommend against anyone buying exactly the number of points for 5 days excluding weekends, especially if aiming for off season. In the latter scenario, one should always have a cushion.
