Is there Preferred Seating for World of Color? When DCA first opened they had a similar water/light show and you just stood around. Going in two weeks with a bad hip and would really like to see this... :)

There is preferred "standing" through a special dining package, but there is no seating for WOC. If your hip injury is bad enough that you require a wheelchair, you can rent one and view the show from the special wheelchair section, but other than that, unfortunately, you must stand for WOC viewing.

yes.. only standing no seating unless you get a wheelchair!! good call sonnyjane
:thumbsup2

Last July I saw World of Color from the Preferred Dining Area with a bum knee from surgery. I had a Guest Assistance Card and was allowed to sit on a bench in the handicapped section. My husband was allowed to sit as well, but only once the show started and it was clear there was plenty of room.

Anyone know if this benefit is still available? I didn't need a wheelchair, had a knee brace. But it was nice to sit down during the show! :thumbsup2

:thumbsup2 Thanks for the advice. I might need a wheelchair, but would rather not. If needed I will rent one so I can enjoy my time with the Mouse. :cool1:

but is it worth getting a cheese and cracker "picnic" lunch for $15.99 just to get these "reserved seating/standing" areas or is it ok just to get a fastpass and take your chances. I am not willing to pay for ariels grotto or trattoria for my preferred "seating/standing" but I might be willing to cough up $15 for a PBandJ if the seating/standing area is worth it. Anybody have experience with this?

You do not get reserved viewing area with the picnic lunch. You get a FP - the same thing everyone else gets from the FP machines for free. Except with picnics you do not have to wait in line for your FP and can arrive late in the day and know you have a FP.

I'm not sure exactly what you mean by "this benefit," but the GAC card is still available to those who are determined to be needing it. Also, the area for guests with wheelchairs, ECVs, and other "standing" issues (I guess would be the way to word it) is still there for guests in need and their family.

If you were allowed in there previously with your situation, I don't see why it would be any different now.

Maybe the OP is asking about Fantasmic? It seems he/she already saw WOC.

I don't think the OP already saw WOC. They mentioned a show when DCA first opened - there was no WOC then............

I was asking if there were still benches in the handicapped area that might benefit the OP. I have not been in Paradise Park since last July and was just checking that things hadn't changed. If the benches are stilll there, then OP can get a GAC without renting a wheelchair, if that is what they would like to do.

This is a little different than what others were saying about no seating without a wheelchair.

Ah, gotcha.

Yes, the benches are still there. I think when people say there is no seating without a wheelchair, they are over-summarizing. There is no seating to watch WoC unless you have the need for special accommodations and a GAC card. :goodvibes

Oh...thank you very much. I had no idea that was the situation.

1) Is getting a regular fastpass really difficult/time consuming? What is the exact process and how bad are the lines now a days?

2) How early (before the show begins) would you line up with a regular fast pass to get into the WoC and how early would you show up with a "guaranteed" fast pass?

EDIT:

3) Do the other dining packages (the expensive ones for AG and Wine Country Trat) give you actual preferred "standing" or do they also just come with a fast pass?

EDIT AGAIN: Hydroguy....see this video really makes it sound like you're going to get a special "just for you" area. http://disneyparks.disney.go.com/blog/2010/06/video-of-world-of-color-picnic-meals/

The fine print on this page states "Preferred Viewing" for AG and the Trat meals and "Reserved Viewing" for the picnics. My, my that is an foggy distiction.
A full-service prix fixe dinner at Ariel's Grotto or Wine Country Trattoria includes tickets to a Preferred Viewing section at Paradise Park. A World of Color lunch is also available at Wine Country Trattoria and includes tickets for Reserved Viewing.

Ok, a few "newbie" questions:

Many visits to DL, first visit to DCA and WOC, except this year I am visiting with a fractured ankle/foot. It will be 6 weeks from the break so I am not sure how well I will be walking with or without a boot.

I doubt I will last all day walking so I will probably be in a wheelchair, would you still suggest a picnic lunch? Or, should I just plan on a GAC card to get me (and DH and DS15) into special WOC seating?

This visit is a belated birthday gift, so I'm going, broken ankle and all! :yay:

DISNEY has caused a lot of confusion by not being constant in the use of the terms "Reserved" and "Preferred". ALL WOC fastpasses get you admission into a Reserved area. Only the evening "Dining" meals ($40) gets you admission into the "Preferred Dining" section and the pass is named "DISNEY DINING".

1. A FREE WOC Fastpass is one of the easiest fastpass to get. One person, with all the tickets/passes for your party that have entered either DL or CA, needs to go to CA to the Grizzly River Run FP Machines. They have large signs to direct you. Currently the lines are short (2-5 minutes). FREE Fastpasses are available until early afternoon, but it is better go in the morning. To get BLUE Fastpasses for the first show go to CA a little before the "rope drop" 1/2 hour before opening.

The Picnic Meal "Reserved Viewing" fastpass ($16) will say "Viewing Area BLUE" or "Viewing Area YELLOW".
The FREE WOC Fastpasses with say "Viewing Location.... BLUE, YELLOW, or RED. " BLUE Area and BLUE Location are the same exact section.

Picnic Fastpass ($16) / WCT Lunch Fastpass ($30) / Fastpass from GRR Fastpass Machine (FREE). are all exactly the same in function.

2. For ALL fastpasses, to get the best viewing spot at a rail in each section, you should get there 15-30 minutes before the earliest time listed on the Fastpass. All fastpasses give you guaranteed entrance to the section on the pass.

3. When you have your WOC $40 meal they give you a "DISNEY DINING Preferred Viewing, viewing area, PREFERRED DINING" " pass.

Never mind, I found my answer under the disABILITIES section - it took some searching!

Is it possible to just "walk-up" to see this show, like Illuminations at Epcot? Do you absolutely need to get FP's one way or another? We'll be visiting on May 18 if that makes any difference.
