Yet another Placeholder/Booking question

We have a placeholder that we booked on a previous cruise - transferred it to our TA. On opening booking day, technically you can book online well before the DCL phone lines open. I have a particular cabin that I want, but it tends to be an "in-demand cabin," so I'm afraid if I wait until my TA calls DCL, it will be gone. Here's my question....if I book my cruise/cabin online, can I later do a 3-way phone conf my TA & DCL to have the cruise I booked placed into the TA's name AND have my OBB placeholder applied? (or have the quickly cancel my ressie/book using the placeholder without losing the cabin I booked?)

If not, what's the best way to do this?

I think the only option is to cancel and try to re-book. And it could be somewhat messy if the TA can't really be involved in the cancellation aspect.

I've had a room which I had reserved on opening day transferred 3 weeks later to a reservation that I made while onboard one of the ships. (Just to clarify, I had the room transferred once I got back on land; the ship CM can't do it underway without risking losing the room.) However, I don't know how putting the TA in the mix would impact it.

DCL states on their website that online booking starts at 8:00 AM EST, the same as the phone lines. Why is online booking opening earlier? Such a disadvantage to those of us with placeholders!

My neighbor called this morning to book a cruise with a placeholder and there was not a single handicap verandah cabin left because online booking opened early!

Can you transfer existing reservations for a specific cruise to a new cruise? We had a TA that converted a placeholder reservation we had to a cheap 3-day cruise before platinum could book on opening day. Apparently she could then transfer that cruise to the one we really wanted online, rather than having to do it over the phone. Just like the older pre-placeholder days where you would book a dummy cruise
