Our wedding anniversary was yesterday. DH and I went out for a really nice dinner :) . So a few minutes ago my MIL calls and wants to know if we want to go out to dinner with them tonight to celebrate our anniversary. When I tell her we already had plans for tonight, ( a benefit for a local opera company ) , she gets mad at me :confused3 I guess we are supposed to leave our social calender open in case she ever calls....either thaty or she's not an opera lover

Well of course you were supposed to leave your social calendar open for her. Or you should have been a better DIL and read her mind that she wanted to do dinner tonight with her. And everone knows that MILs come before opera. Geeezzz. Oh wait, thats in bizzaro world.

Too bad if she waited till the last minute to ask you guys to dinner. She knew for a long while when your anniversary was. You made plans and she will just have to deal. Let her take you guys another night, or not at all/ Go to the benefit and have fun.

My MIL is the queen of stuff like that. On Father's Day she asks if we'd rather go boating or rent a condo for a week at a lake this summer. I was like HUH? We have the whole summer planned out. You can't ask me this in the middle of June and expect me to cancel things that we have paid for and planned. She is still really pissed at me and you know I kinda like it....no phone calls about something stupid or annoying drop ins...hmm maybe I better think of ways to keep her mad at me. :rotfl2:

I stopped talking to mine in June, and I don't think shes noticed.....

Yup, I definately think she'll get over it!

My MIL forgot my ds's birthday this year. They have ONE child and only 3 grandchildren... sheesh.

Like the time my MIL tried to buy a plane ticket from Cali to Orlando for Christmas - the first week of Dec and was surprised that all the flights were either booked or a million dollars! AND she was upset we already had plans.

Of this year or last year?

I admit it, sometimes (most of the time) when I see my MIL on the caller ID, I don't pick up... "Oh gee honey, I didn't hear the phone ring! I must have been in the basment doing laundry!"
