Sorry folks but dont have the time to go and read all the past postings regarding the topic of H1N1. My son "may" have it now. Not being tested but the docs are saying it is. Would he still need to be vaccinated if he has already had it??

The word is, that yes, since they are not testing, then you don't "truly" know that he had it and you should go ahead and get him the vax. It's crazy.

Wouldn't you ask your doctor?:confused3

Although there are many threads that could answer your question.

My pediatrician said that if you did not get a confirmation that it's influenza, you should still get the vaccine. My son had something and swabbed negative for ANY type of influenza but there is a high false-negative on the swab. So, he will be getting the vax if we can ever get it without a five hour line.

Very crazy. A child may NOT need the vax, but will get it anyway just because a doctor did not test them:confused3

Waste.

They aren't testing anymore. Doctor's offices have never been able to test for H1N1, they had to send the swab off to specialized labs for that. Those labs are swamped and are no longer taking routine samples. So, if you did not test positive for Influenza A during this "off" season for regular flu, it is recommended that you get a vaccine.
