Ok, ordered a new computer tonite :) Yea!!!!! My question is about Microsoft $$$$. If we have our current $$$ on our "old" computer, can we just use our backup disks to create all of our old history on the new computer? Does that make sense? I guess I am asking, how does the new computer get all the old files for the $$$?? (Please note, I am total computer idiot ... I know how to email, DIS, and pay my bills online ... that is it!)
Thanks in advance!

I presune $$$$ is Microsoft's Money. If so, I am sure it is like Quicken. Just take your backup and do a restore on the new PC. Very easy Best wishes on the new one, enjoy.

Thanks Dan! I knew you would know! :)
Yes- Microsoft Money is what I am talking about!

I am sooo excited! We got a special on the 20th anniversary DELL. Never had a DELL before, so we are hoping we have much better luck than the one we have now (Micron)!!!

Thanks again! Any other tips for a easy transition?

oh, and what do you usually do with your old computers? Ours is 4 yrs old, so probably to outdated to sell.

If it's not too old you should be able to donate it.

If it's too old to be donated, check with your municipal recycling coordinator. They shouldn't be just thrown away in the dump. Ours has one or two collections throughout the year and they fill a tractor-trailer with the stuff.

You'd be surprised what you can sell on e-bay. A computer purchased new four years ago might get you 75-100 bucks. It depends what you sell with it. If it has an operating system on it when you sell it, or other software you will get even more. Any computer with an operating system on it will get you something, and you can get even more if you have additional software on it. Of course, there is the issue of the software license, which is why many people don't like to sell stuff with software on it, but if it is not for commercial profit, I don't think there is any problem with it.
