Yet another cancellation question

We're brand new to DVC, having just bought in this summer. I'm still trying to understand all the ins and outs. We have a December use year. We have 220 points from 2011 and will get another 220 on Dec. 1 this year, for a total of 440. I banked 2011 points upon purchase.

We are hoping for a trip to Aulani in June that would use 308 points. If I book that at 7 months out and subsequently have to cancel, what is the deal with both the 2011 and 2012 points? The cancellation would definitely be over 30 days in advance if it happens.

as long as you cancel more than a month in advance, all pts from the canceled reservation will drop back into the 2012 UY (the UY of the reservation). 2012 pts would still be bankable if your banking window has not closed yet (which it wouldn't since you'd cancel by may and the banking window closes july 31).

banked 2011 pts and borrowed 2013 pts (if any) would be stuck in 2012 and will expire on nov 30, 2013 if not used for a stay before that date.

To clarify one thing - will the 2012 points that I use for this reservation (88 of them) be bankable to 2013 if we can't use them until after December 1, 2013?

Yes. Once banked they would be good for stays 12/1/13 to 11/30/14.
