Yesteday's Oprah- Jackson children

I don't care who their biological father is, if it is not MJ. To those kids, he is their father. The only one they will ever know. DNA does not make a person a parent, being there for them does.

I think was a horrible parent and is now a horrible person. He is a user and will manipulate and do what ever he can to get things his way. He is disgusts me and I fell sorry for his kids. I can't imagine having to grow up under such an abusive and manipulative man. I really hope that Katherine can protect MJ's kids from him.

So then it makes sense that you posted on a thread with OPRAH in the title. :confused3

So if you feel strongly about something/someone, it is expected that you will not post on threads related to them? Is that a new rule? :confused3

At least for me, my concern was always the way the children's faces were covered, didn't seem to have any outside playmates or friends and were always kept on lockdown (again, how it seemed). I can't imagine how you have a normal upbringing when the only kids you play with are your cousins. There didn't seem to be any interaction with the outside world. However, they do seem to be very well-behaved, articulate, caring kids. Seems, at least with them, MJ has broken the chain of parenting that his dad taught him. :thumbsup2

I'm no MJ expert but from what i understand, they played with the children of the people who were around him (record producers, etc.). The idea behind covering their faces was so that when they (the kids) went out in public without MJ they wouldn't be recognized. I once heard they went to Disneyland with the family of one MJ's record producers without MJ along, and they were able to have a normal day at a theme park because no one knew who they were.

If I was as famous as MJ, I'd seriously consider doing the same to my own kids.

No, I just thought it was odd to come on a thread about a specific show's topic and say "I don't watch that show."

Queen2PrincessG, I was referring to wearing masks, being sheltered from the real world, growing up with an eccentric father, etc.

Then his kids are kinda like the Amish Kids!;):)

I was not offended by Katherine's statement. She was clearly comfortable speaking with Oprah and forgot to be pc during a moment of painful parenting honesty.

I was stunned when Oprah repeatedly made fun of/teased Jermajesty about his name. Yes, it is an odd name.....but dang "OPRAH" leave the kid alone.

Joe Jackson is mean, creepy man...and Katherine made him fess up.. good girl Katherine
MJ's kids... well, they seem to be dealing with their father's death, and have a good strong family connection.

Why do all those grandkids live with the grandparents? I didn't quite catch that.

Not Michael's kids, but the others.

If there was a thread about "share your favorite pancake recipes" and I jumped in to say "I hate pancakes"....isn't that bizarre? How does the fact that I hate pancakes contribute anything to a recipe-sharing thread?

In the same way, this thread was about a topic on an Oprah show, not about Oprah herself, at all. But she does seem to bring about that reaction in people, pretty strongly, too.

Your second paragraph says it all. This thread was not about the Oprah show, it was about the Jackson family. Many people who don't watch Oprah are probably interested. If the subject had been "Share your favorite Oprah episode" then I would agree with you, but that is not the case here.

And nothing was said about the Jackson kids either. It was an "I hate oprah" post. :confused3

My bad... I thought you commented on her READING the thread, not posting on it. You're right, it didn't add much to the conversation. ;) But I still don't expect someone who hates Oprah to avoid anything with "Oprah" in the subject line.

See how easy that was to figure out? :goodvibes And aside from my interest in the Jackson family, the very first sentence the OP typed was:

"Ok, so I think Oprah is probably one of the worst interviewers out there."

which only served to open the door even further for my comment..:goodvibes

So back to the Jackson kids, their odd names (oops, wrong thread), how black people raise their kids, and Oprah.....

No - it's not "your bad".. See the above post..:goodvibes

That's what I want to know.
From what I get they just dropped the kids off on her because they either couldn't afford to take care of them OR they just don't want to take care of them.

I loved MJ, I grew up with him. I remember watching interviews where he said he always wanted to go to school.

That's weird, because he WENT to school, at least at some point. Danny Bonaduce talked about going to school with him. Maybe it was some kind of performing arts school that didn't require strict attendance or something. It was high school, not grade school -- I think both their careers already seemed to be behind them at that point.

Know what? Paris and Prince aren't biologically Michael's. What more do you need to know, or are you just talking about wanting an official statement?

I just wanna know who the baby daddy is...that's all. Celebrity gossip! Sometimes I love watching ET just for the gossip.... :goodvibes

Those poor kids. When MJ died, they were dropped straight from the frying pan into the fire. If any one of them turns out remotely "normal" it will by their own sheer will. God knows it won't be because of the influence of their father or any of their family members.

Lots of older folks are often not PC. They just say whatever is on their mind! I do appreciate their honesty....
