We are officially out of water as a town. We were warned it MIGHT happen over this last weekend, but it didn't.

This morning I get up and go to wash something off but no water comes from the faucet. I turn on the bathroom faucets and there's no water there either. So I wake up DH and ask him if he forgot to pay the water bill or something.

He paid it alright, but we are out of water as a town. >.<

He called from City Hall a little while ago. We now, as a town, only have around 1 million gallons of water to last us..however long. We are now on Stave V water restrictions.

Great. I can see the complaints coming in now. "But I HAVE to water my laaaaaaaaaawwwn."

Where are you located exactly? For how long will you have no water? Do you have the ability to go out and get gallons of water from the store or a spring?

Not a good way to start your day, but I certainly hope that you get water back very soon....

Wow, so sorry. I guess we just take the little things for granted, like turning on a faucet and having water. I hope they fix or straighten out the problem soon.

We live in a smallish (20,000 strong) about an hour outside of Dallas. Yes, we can go to the store and buy water, but showering, etc is going to be difficult until they get this problem fixed. We've been on water restrictions for a while now because of the extreme drought we've been going through the last few months.

Until DH (who is a town council member) comes home, I won't know how long we're going to be without water. Hopefully it won't be long.

Wow I am really sorry for your predicament. Where do you live?? I just can't imagine the real problems this will cause (ie fires?? What will hospitals do without water??). Not to make light of such a serious situation, but I live in Houston and we just got done with a huge rain event-too bad we can't ship it to you!! A lot of people got flooded here. Keep us informed I am really curious to see what is going to happen

I sort of had a similar problem. My well broke. One night, I'm washing dishes and then BAM! no water. I just stood there staring at it. I grew up in the city....there was always water. I had no idea who to call.

I've become an expert at force flushing the toilet and we always have cheap gallons of water on hand in case the lights go out - no lights, no water.

I hope they get you some water soon so you can shower. :grouphug:

Not exactly sure what the FD is going to do if there is a grassfire, but the nearest hospitals are in towns that still have water, thank goodness.

Seeing that DH is a council member, I'm sure he's going to get lots of phone calls on his 'office' phone number (which has voice mail..it's provided by the city so citizens can call him and such).

I'll know more when DH gets back from City Hall..he's been there for nearly 2 hours now. I'm sure he and the other council members and city officials and whatnot are working on the problem. If it's going to be more than a couple of days without water, we may end up going and staying with my MIL in Copper Canyon (outside of Flower Mound).

I was going to do laundry today. :laundy: I guess not, huh? :lmao:

I'm sure the town will be doing something. National Guard can bring in water; or turn undrinkable water into drinkable water (or at least ok for bathing). Companies like WalMart & Anheiser Busch are always trucking in bottled water. Here, in MA, towns will try to buy water from a neighboring town who has more & is willing to sell.

Then of course, you will have those jerks who raise the price to $10 a gallon.

Just hang in there until help arrives.

Wow! Sorry to hear that, it must really be inconvienant. I'm so glad my city thought ahead and took care to secure our water source in the 80's and 90's. Now that our area's population is exploding (new housing) other towns area having problems in years we have droughts (like last year). Even in good years they'll have watering restrictions. Not us, we are encouraged to conserve water, of course, but we've got plenty now and will be okay in the future.

If this is going to last a while, try looking for a camp shower at a sporting goods store. I think you just fill it up with water, hang it from a secure spot, and open the spout. It'll be cold, but better than a sponge bath...

I guess you'll be going shopping instead! :teeth:

Here's hoping that it doesn't last long.

I am sorry to hear about you water problem. I hope it gets resolved soon. We have a well and know that feeling when you turn on the faucet and get no water.

Yeah y'all up there have been in a bad drought for a while. We were in Dallas in April and a storm was coming in and pushed a huge dust storm in front of it-it was amazing. I know all that development going on only taxes things. We did manage to catch up on our water shortage these last few days. The rain from this system was supposed to only get as far north as Waco (where I lived as a child) and even then it was scattered. Good luck to you

We went three days this spring with no water when a sewer pipe burst too close to the fresh water pipe. Luckily it was just 9 families and we were allowed to go to a local store and get as much water as we needed at no cost. It was still a pain, tho! The most inconvenient thing was we weren't allowed to use the toilet so we had to keep going up the street to a public restroom. It was a nightmare!

DH called a little while ago..a neighboring town has promised to help with the water situation, but we're not sure when that water will be coming in. Sometime today.

I just got a phone call from him. He's still at city hall, doing damage control and what not. Two news vans (Ch. 4 & 8) have arrived and most likely the mayor and city mgr will be on the 12 o' clock news today. Maybe even the 6 o'clock. :woohoo:

I told DH the fact that we are able to laugh at this ridiculously absurd situation means we have a dry wit. :lmao:

Just run a hose to Lewisville Lake ;)

Firestations usually plan for this, a friend of mine is a volunteer fireman near rowlett, and the fire dept stores water in towers for emergencies, and they make sure their pumpers are full too.

I'm glad Lewisville isn't having any issues (yet!)

Can't..we don't have water rights. According to the mayor, we are putting in a pipe to another nearby lake (I don't remember the name..it's something goofy like Lake Lulubelle) so this doesn't happen again.

There is a rumor going around that we attempted to buy water from Frisco yesterday and their town mgr (who I guess has the say in these sorts of things) said no.

Do you have water yet? Living without running water would be near impossible :confused3

This doesn't sound good - no showers, no laundry....ewwww!!!!

Probably a good time to take a trip to Disney!!!

Sounds like a good time to take a trip ANYWHERE LOL....

No, YOU run a hose to lewisville lake ;) The city can fend for itself, although I can see the headlines now "Councilman steals water!" :teeth:

I heard that the new pipeline was supposed to be completed very soon. Any news today?
