The Dates--November 16-28--Holiday Inn Family Suites

The Cast--
Deby-me-34-Big Time lurker of the DIS(If I started to post, I don't think I would ever get off the computer;) ), always the planner of the trips
Doug-dh-34--leaves the planning up to me, carrier of the video camera
Dylan-son-9-Only wants to ride space mountain, test track, tower of terror " big rides"
Ryan-son-7-broke his arm 11 days before the trip, no swimming for him:(
Allie-daughter-5-very vocal princess
Sami-daughter-3-Loves disney world and would like to 'live there'--a more easy going princess

Alittle background--This trip originally started out as a four day cruise with my brother-in-law and his family and then a few days in Disney arriving in Disney on thanksgiving. We booked the cruise in May 2000, and I booked the wilderness lodge junior suite with the Disney Club discount in October 2000. fast forward to April 2001--
My family and I had just returned from an Easter trip of eight days at the Dolphin. I had purchased annual passes this year figuring it was worth it when we return in November.
Well, my sister in law calls to say they will not be going on the cruise in November after all. Doug and I decide to cancel the cruise and still go to disney, I convince him by stating "we have annual passes, this trip will be inexpensive ( famous last words ;) ) I cancel the cruise and decide with the money I get back from the cruise, I can use it for the room. We had already purchased airfare in January for this trip so this was already paid for. I book a room at the Holiday INN Family suites and get a rental car for November 17-27.I also cancel the wilderness lodge. Fast forward to September 2001--
After september 11th, everyone get asking, Are you still going to fly or Are you still going to Disney? This is where I get the title for my trip report, Yes we are still going. Then things get alittle hairy--in October We had just closed on our new house, when my hubby comes home and says his job is being transferred, we of course are not going to move, so he needs to find a new job pronto! We think lets try to still go on vacation, but I have slacked off on planning and this shows in our trip! Then 11 days before the trip, the school nurse calls me and says "Do not panic but your sons arm is mis-shapened " yes it is broken. and then on the monday before we leave the plane crashes leaving from JFK--we are leaving out of LGA. The phone calls start--are you guys still going to go?--even now I am starting to have doubts--We call Delta--they will refund out money since they have changed our flights sooo many times. We take them up on it and decide to drive, leaving on friday after the kids get home from school. I cancel the rental car and away we go---
Part 1
November 16--We leave our house at 4:30 pm. from New York, of course we hit rush hour on the garden state parkway. We are driving straight through, only stopping for potty and food breaks. The kids watch about 3 movies and keep asking when are we there?
We arrive at the Holiday Inn at 1 p.m. on Saturday the 17th.
Our room is not ready, so we go to Downtown Disney and do some shopping, I started right in at the World Of Disney--i won't say how much damage I did, but my disney club card discount was $59.00
Back to the hotel, room is still not ready, but the priority club guy says we can have a pool view room(which he tells me is usually 20.00 more a night, but the fee is waived for priority club card holders). Our room number is 1026--the kids like the room--dylan has top bunk, ryan the bottom, Allie takes the pull out bed in that room, and Sami will sleep in the living room on the pull out sofa. Doug takes the three kids swimming while I take Ryan(remember no swimming for him:( shopping for some supplies at Goodings.
After dinner we hit the sack because tommorrow we have early reservations at Cinderellas Castle.

Tell me more on the Hotel... We arrive on Dec 1st for 9 nights ( Me , My Mom, My Sister and my
2 kids ) and want to know everything ..... We just can't wait to get there and the hotel looks so awesome... Yikes.. 3 days... whoo hoo... Thanks Michelle

bigsis1970--The kids really enjoyed the hotel. Like I said we were in room 1026. on the second floor. It faced the kiddie playground and kiddie pool which was probably good since there always seems to be people in the pool pretty late. I think it stays open until 12 a.m. I found the hotel itself to be nice and the location was closest to epcot, then Magic kingdom and I think MGM next and Animal Kingdom the furthest away--I would have to ask my husband to be sure since he was the one driving around!
The breakfast buffet consisted of eggs, pancakes or french toast, then each day you had either ham, bacon or sausage. There was fruit, cold cereal, hot cereal, bagels, bread for toasting, and donuts. There was probably a few more things I am forgetting, I thought it was a nice variety.
My husband and I found the hotel to be clean.
The pool has zero entry which is great for the kids, my 3 year old really enjoyed the pool. The pool is heated. My son with the broken arm made me promise we will stay there next time so he can swim there!
We were in the 2 bedroom kids suite, the kids room had bunk beds, another pull out bed, tv and nintendo(we bought our own games so we didn't rent any), my room had a king size bed, tv, the living room had a pull out couch, tv, vcr, refrig, microwave, small sink, table with 3 chairs.
There isn't too much drawer space however but with my family of 6 we made do.
The one night I had to do laundry, there was only one laundry room on the 6th floor and it was crowded, everyone agreed there should be a laundry room on every floor, but I was there on thanksgiving week, so I am sure if you do laundry you will be ok.
My family had a very enjoyable stay here and I am sure you will too!
Hope this helps and have a good time!
