YES Ticket question...

I'm thinking about doing a YES program on our next trip. The class sounds interesting and it would save us over $100.

The program I want to do is on our departure day. We would be getting 6 day tickets, and will have used all 6 days prior to that day. Can we use it that late in our trip? And do we need to set aside a park ticket day for the YES program (meaning I'd need a 7 day ticket instead of 6?)

Thanks!

Yes, you need a park entrance for the day of your YES program.

Typically you can use them up to 7 days prior to the event, but I would call to make sure.

If you skip the class you could get charged full price for the ticket, so just keep that in mind.

We did the YES class in 2012 and saved over $700. My daughter loved the class, but the tickets are quite rigid. No upgrades, no date changing, pay up front, no refunds if you cancel. And the class eats 3+ hours of your day; yes, one of the days you pay for.

As nice of a deal as it USED to be, and as informative as the class was, for the meager savings at today's prices, we would not do it.

The price has gone up quite a bit and isn't nearly as much of a savings. You can't make any changes to the tickets. So, if you want PH, an extra day, etc, you need to get it at the time of purchase.

What dates are you going? While YES tickets now are not as good of a deal, they do still do Homeschool Days that have the great pricing twice a year - once in the Fall, and then in the early winter (Jan/Feb). You don't have to homeschool to participate. In the past it has been 7 days. You put your travel dates in from the day you arrive to the day you leave and then pick a class. However, the rules of the program change constantly, so be sure to call and confirm everything before you actually purchase the tickets. They also cancel classes if not enough students sign up, so be aware of that.

So the op's question was never answered. Assuming you purchase enough days, can the YES class be toward the end of the trip?

Yes, as long as you have saved a park day for that final "class" day your class could be on your final day.

I believe DawnM answered the question.

The tickets can be picked up/used up to 7 days prior to the class... and up to 7 days after. Just remember to save a day on the tickets for park/class entrance and don't skip the class or you can get blocked from future participation.

I just talked to Disney Youth on the phone. He said they no longer have Homeschool Days. They now have dates all through the year for Disney classes for all students k-12 and only the student gets the discount. The chaperon has to pay full price.

I hope he is wrong.

That is disappointing to hear, I was going to look into Homeschool Days for next year.

I think with the regular YES classes the adults now pay full price plus $25 for the class. We did the classes a couple years when the discount was substantial and we really enjoyed them but won't do them again at the current cost. I wonder if they're trying to get rid of the program...
