He was on the TV show, McCloud, he was the protagonist in the Steven Spielberg movie Duel (great movie), and also I remember him playing Poteet in Centennial.

I don't think we were referring to ALL deaths but ones in common. Some of the ones on your list were writers or in sports I think.Others were just "public figures". Some I don't know what their "claim to fame" was.
BUT....Don Knotts,Darrin McGavin, and Dennis Weaver were all actors and all just about the same age and died within a couple of days of each other. I think that was what we meant by "in threes".

We are programmed to look for pattterns. One death or two deaths isn't considered a pattern so we remember 3 deaths. Just a few months ago someone posted a "death in 3's" on this board and within a day or two there was a fourth death of a famous person and no one seemed to even relate that to the 3 deaths. Or do we just start counting all over again from the 4th death? Unfortunately the statistics do not support the deaths in 3's.
After Mr McGavin passed away someone posted about the 3's thing so I was just adding that to my post acknowledging what the other poster from the day before had written.
I did not expect to be analyzed by a simple statement. Good GRIEF!!!!
