YES in 2013

We are going to WDW the first week of June 2013. If we wanted to get YES tickets, when would we start watching for them to come out with classes?

They were released last year on 2/7. We are also going the last week in May and first week in June and so I am hoping against hope that they have a class the first week in June. I am not really sure why they avoid May? I can understand March and April because of Spring Break but why May? If it a very slow time for Disney:confused3

First class offered in june was the 12th.

Here is a link to a listing that a Diser posted early this year

For those that have done the YES program I'm hoping that maybe you know the answer to a couple questions.

1. How many park tickets are you able to purchase besides those attending? For example sone and husband attend am I able to purchase tickets for self?

One child you can purchase 2 adult tickets, 2 children you can purchase 2 adult tickets, 3 and above children you can purchase 1 adult ticket for each child ticket purchase (4 children, 4 adults etc)

2. Not that I would ever do this but what happens if people don't show up for scheduled event due to illness or just about anything. Are thier tickets deactivated? I'm only asking because things can happen and just wanted to be prepared.

They say they will deactivate them, have never heard confirmation on it actually being done. If someone is sick, I would be calling ASAP to notify and not take the chance. Adding- Per the other YES thread, a poster advised that WDW actually billed the price difference and took them to court for the price difference and court costs.

3. What age is consider an adult. For example if a child of 12 is attending can an 18 year old sibling be the adult.

Anyone 18 and older has to be listed as an adult when purchasing tickets, and yes they can go as the chaperone, just need to select them as the one attending the class

4. Can you attend if you have an annual pass or do you have to buy a ticket package.

You have to buy a YES ticket package

Thanks

Has anyone had the circumstance where you have one child who wants to attend a class and another who doesn't, or isn't old enough too? Would you have to pay full price for the one child's ticket then while the other child and adult tickets were the discounted price?

You can purchase a discounted ticket for the child that is not attending the class as well. You list them under children but you do not select them for a class.

That's great news. Thank you for the reply!

One clarification to an earlier post. My DS8 went to a YES class this past Sept. It was my DH, my DD20, DS8 and myself. We were able to buy tickets for all 4 of us even though we only had one child going to the class and we were technically 3 adults.

If the 3rd adult has not been one of our children(a grandparent as an example) we would not have been allowed to do this.

Did you call in to add the 3rd adult?

When signing up for June classes when they became available in February, the system kept flagging my friend whenever she tried adding her son (18).
She tried doing it with him under both the child and adult sections.
She ended up only getting 2 adults and 2 childrens tickets and planned on just paying full price at the gate for her son. Son ended up not going so all way good in the end.

It is my understanding that you should not have been able to purchase a ticket for your adult child. Only 2 adult tickets/child (if one child attending class). It doesn't matter if the 18+ yo is a dependent, relative, or stranger.

I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but I was hoping for something between Dec 29 and Jan 5. I actually called the YES Program and they told me they are not going to have any classes for those dates. From what I understand Oct 31 will be the last class and they will start up sometime later in January. I am taking my granddaughter and was really hoping she could go. I don't know if it because of the holidays or what their reasons are but I am so disappointed.

That is already a very busy time at WDW, so they won't have the classes for two reasons. One, it would be harder to teach a class at a very busy park, corralling everyone, talking over crowds, etc. Two, the classes are partially designed to draw guests in on slow times. Alot of kids are still on winter break that week, so they don't need a draw as much.

If you can wait a week or so, I am sure you can catch one. Sorry!

my understanding as well.

So this is how it worked. At first I signed up just myself, my DH, and my DS8 because we did not think DD20 was going to be able to go due to college conflict. Once we realized that she could indeed go I caledl the number on my confirmation email and spoke to Dave(atleast I think that was his name) and he added my college age daughter no problem. I paid for her additional ticket and we were all set. At the time he said it was because she was my child and you are allowed to buy tickets for your children even if they are outside of the age group that can attend the classes. Again this would NOT have worked if I had tried to add my mother or father or any other adult that was not my child.

Yes I called in to add my DD20.

One other piece of advice; always call when in doubt. Just make sure you call 407-472-4676 ext. 14 and not the number on the website. This is not your typical disney number where you might or might not get a correct answer. In fact it is not a Disney number at all since the program is not administrated by Disney. Chances are excellent you will get Dave on the phone. He is an absolute wealth of knowledge about this program. As I stated earlier he was more that happy to add my adult age daughter and even gave us until 2 weeks before our trip to call and add her so we could be sure her college schedule would not interfer.

And I thought waiting for ADRs for the Dessert Party was rough,,come on Disney post some new dates!

Hate to be the bearer of bad news:sad1: There is a rumor that individual "yes" tickets are going to be handled differently this year. I just wouldn't get your hopes up as to how many tickets you can purchase. Hopefully the new policy will be published soon.

I'm hoping to send two kids to class and get tickets for our full party of 4. I want to weigh the cost of these tickets against the DVC PAP discounted price. Given the lower amount of discounts in June it would be nice to save a bit of money this year.

I just called to see when they would be adding 2013 dates to the website, and they told me not until the end of the month. :confused3
