The back of my leg has been bugging me since about noon today. Pretty much from the center of the back of my right thigh to halfway around the right side of my thigh hurts, from the top of my leg to my knee. It's a dull, but constant pain. I spent about 5 hours in a car yesterday with only one stretch break, and did the same this past Friday. On Saturday and Sunday, I took hour long car rides.

Did I just sleep funny, or could this be something else? I'll ask at the doctor in the morning, but I was just a little concerned tonight and I'm totally making myself paranoid over what is, more than likely, just some leg cramps.

(When I'm stressed, I get paranoid, and stressed doesn't even begin to describe life right now)

Is it warm to the touch? When I had phlebitius years ago, it was very warm to the touch.

You are not paranoid... but funny thing is I have the same thing in my head... I am having a dull ache on my calf... and I am nurse so of coure the first thing I think about is a blood clot... but I have not been sitting for a long period of time..

Check your leg and see if it is hot where it hurts... also have someone push against you foot while you "step on the gas", if you have excruciating pain then you need to seek medical help... good luck

My mother had a blood clot behind her knee about 6 years ago now. It was painful when she tried to stand/walk, her calf was very red and hot to the touch, and her ankle swelled up. She ended up in the hospital with another clot on her lung, which is when they told her that she had the classic symptoms for the leg one.

Ok, I just stood up for a while to let my legs adjust to normal temperature. They feel the same. I made DH feel, too. We both say they feel the same temp, and no swelling or anything. I made him push back on my foot, too, and it does hurt, but nothing excruciating. This is like those night time leg cramps in the front of your legs that keep you awake-not severe, but completely annoying and constant.

If you did have a blood clot, the LAST thing you'd want to do would be to have people pushing on your foot, massaging your leg, etc.

In the hospital, you'd get put into bed and told to stay there. Bedpan City. ::yes:: Don't want to dislodge any part of the clot and have it travel (or "embolize") through your blood stream. The little embolus could get caught in a lung ("pulmonary embolism") or your brain (stroke) and that would be, in the words of Mr. Garrison, "bad."

So, relax. If it is a DVT (deep vein thrombosis, a blood clot in the leg), the best thing to do - other than going to the ER - would be to stay off the leg.

Me, myself, if I had deep leg pain and hadn't just pulled a muscle or something...I'd be in the Emergency Department of the local hospital.

But if you're going to wait, just chill out and leave the leg alone.

Good luck!

I had a DVT in my leg after giving birth. Not only did I have pain, I also noticed that the affected leg was a purplish color and my veins in that leg were stiff and stood out. My leg felt full and stiff. I also had an unwell feeling all over, like i was catching the flu.

I had dvt's in both legs and trust me the last thing I wanted was to move with them. The pain was almost unbearable. It was far worse than childbirth.

Have you been to a doc? It wouldn't hurt to get them to do a sonogram to check it out!

I had a clot in my arm and it wasn't particularly painful, though it did ache a bit. It was swollen and discolored, which is the only reason I went to the doctor. A clot isn't something to mess around with, though, and so I think when in doubt, get yourself to the doctor. I tprobably isn't a clot - it's probably muscular - but it's better to err on the side of caution about something this potentially serious.
