Yes, we do mix. We are in a family of his/mine/ours. Happily married for 7 years on New Year's Day. Last Christmas, it was our year to have my stepson with us on Christmas day. His mother (DH's ex) is remarried and her hubby had to work Christmas day. We invited her and their young daughter to join us at our house so they would get to be with Dustin as well as see all of DH's family, who were family to her for a long time too. I was nervous about it at first but something told me to invite her and I always follow my gut. It was one of THE BEST Christmas's I've ever had. It was what Christmas should be; sharing, caring, and letting go of old stuff.

Something I try to live by:

"Look back, but don't stare" We all have pasts. We must remember our roots and what brought us to today, but don't stare too hard, it is all behind us.
