I am starting a new thread about these restaurants because I do not want anyone who is interested to miss them. They were new to me this year and are both in Orlando. They are both fantastic and more for the locals than tourists so I am guessing that is why they have not been mentioned more often.

bbq at both is excellent

At Yellow Dog, they do not add a lot of sauce and the bbq is less tasty but less salty which I like you can control the sauce and flavor....the desserts are to die for and i mean this literally.......if someone had not died from eating even one HUGE rich piece of their chocolate cake it will happen soon. It is delicious! The rest of the desserts are right up there too as heart stoppers. Yellow dog is more a crunchy type place but yet it is mixed with locals and tourists alike. If you are a vegan they have a whole menu that would make your mouth water also.

At 4 Rivers there is no VEGAN menu and it is more the killer bbq we all know and love where the meat and the grease falls off the bone. Ribs were to die for and so was the pulled pork and everything else on the menu (except for the corn bread sald that was a waste of a side). Here too killer desserts. HUGE, High cakes, cookies, cupcakes, and yes wait for it .....deep fried Oreos if you like that sort of thing.

For those of us who visit the MOUSE at least once a year and are getting a little tired of the same old same old restaurants that we traditionally visit, you need to try both of these places. I was pleasantly surprised or should I say shocked that I had missed these places.

If you go to St. Augustine visit Back 40 Urban Cafe kind of like the Yellow
Dog and just as good.

My daughter and I discovered 4 Rivers thanks to Yelp last year and we are so happy that we did! They do have 2 locations that are near Disney, we did go to both but really preferred the newer location that had seating inside of the main part of the restaurant and not just the screened in portion. The food was amazing and worth the drive! I have pictures somewhere and I'll try to post them.

Great to see Yellow Dog get a shout out! We discovered it on Yelp and went for the first time this past April. It was a total hidden jewel - I had one of their wraps and DH had tacos. Very high quality interesting food - like PP said, if you are a vegan or vegetarian I know this would be a super pick.

It is about 15 min from DTD and is in kind of a residential area- worth the drive as I know after several trips we were looking for some new local places to try that didn't serve chicken nuggets.

Thanks for posting these restaurants! I noticed them on tripadvisor and glad to see comments about them here.

I plan to visit one, if not both, on my next visit.:thumbsup2

4Rivers was good but a little pricey. I had the pulled pork sandwich with two sides and a drink for $10.95. Make sure you get there before 6:30pm because the line is LONG after 7pm.

three days left in fla will go back to both before we leave....love both of them

I don't know when I'll go back...both places are waaaaay out of the way and too far from me just to have dinner. I've head from co-workers that 4Rivers is always jammed like it was last night. I'd hate to imagine how the place is on a weekend. :crowded:

We are going to try 4 Rivers (the new location) on one of our "off" non-park days. Figured if we ate a late lunch/early dinner we could beat the crowd. Maybe 4 or so?

We left at about 1:30 on a week day and it was pretty dead. Plenty of seats and no wait. It just so happened that when we went it was lunch time so the line went around the buliding but the wait was maybe 15 minutes. Another alternative is to get it for take out and then eat on the covered picnic benches out back. They have a seperate dessert area and there is little to no wait there. the take out had no waiti and it is a better alternative. It is warmer out there but not bad.

It was about 20 min from where we are staying but woth it. If you go at an off time there is no wait.

Yellow Dog is about 5 minutes from my house! How nice to see it mentioned here. I'm a huge fan of the Buffalo Soldier (hold the onion) which is a chipotle tortilla with orange-cointreau mayo, buffalo sauce, grilled chicken, blue cheese, lettuce, tomato, cucumber, and buttermilk wasabi dressing! I also love the curry chicken salad and the pulled pork nachos!!!

Unfortunately...since I live here...I can only go during peak times because of work hours. Still...it was good but I'm not a BBQ lover so I can take it or leave it. I enjoy it when I'm eating but I don't really miss it. Glad you found it!

Ya'll have me curious about 4 Rivers!!! I'm a Kansas City girl and we have awesome BBQ. We may have to make the trek to 4 Rivers to see if it stands up to the best BBQ in the land!! :rotfl2:

Trust me baby it stands up big time. It is fabulous! The meat just falls off the bone.

I thought I had me dining picked out but may need to squeeze4 Rivers into our plans. Very tempting!

You will not be disappointed. The only disappointment I had with them was my plans to go on my last day in Orlando. It was raining very hard and my DH did not want to stand in line in the rain so I did not get to go back. Had I thought of it I would have just gotten the take out and then sat in my car and eaten it.

Consider Yellow Dog also. You cannot lose with either of them. Check the reviews on TripAdvisor. I liked the area where Yellow Dog was located it was strange...huge beautiful mansions and then.....YELLOW DOG and a small old time church. I wish I had gone further into Gotha to see what it was like.

Bon Appitit

Does 4 Rivers have a takeout menu on line?
How far is it from Wyndham Bonnet Creek?

I don't mind travelling about 15 minutes one way for carry out.

Iam pretty sure they have the take out menu on line ....it is more like 20 minutes give or take but still not that long. I was at Vistana which is approx 7 minutes from WDW and it took us around 20 minutes but there was traffic. If you go on a weekday at approx. 1:30 there is no line.
