Yearly Vet Visits

just as an FYI. If you want to save some money got to your local feed and seed store or Tractor Supply and get the yearly vaccines there and give them yourself. Easy to do and cost is a small fraction of the Vet. You will still have to go to the vet for rabies though.

Twice a year since the medication he is own for itching requires blood tests twice a year. Yes to heartworm and he is also on a medication to prevent getting fleas and ticks.
He takes that medicine once a month and the itching medicine daily in the summer and maybe once or twice a week in the colder months. He never needed that until he turned 8.
Apparently it is quite common in older ****zus

How do you get away with out of date vaccinations? We have to license our pets every year and you have to have proof of vaccination. If you are past the due date, they charge you an extra fee and keep hounding you for it. Does your city not have that?
Our cats are 100% indoor and only got their kitten vaccines that were done by the shelter we adopted them from. We do not have to show proof of vaccination to anybody and we see a vet that allows us to decline all vaccinations if the cats are strictly indoors.

You guys are lucky. Our city makes everyone license their pets and have proof of annual vaccinations. Even if you move here, they have vets report to the Humane society that you have a pet.

My state only requires it for dogs. We need to show they're up to date on rabies vaccination and indicate/send proof if they are spayed or neutered (it's less expensive if your dog is fixed).

Here, too. Not only is the fine $300 for not having a rabies shot, but the letter is pretty nasty if they think you've skipped it. At the end, they're like, "oh, and if you cat died--we're sorry." Yeah, sure. They sent me notices a couple months ago, claiming I'd skipped for 2 cats. I sent them copies of the certificates/tags from the vet, showing I wasn't a slacker, but it was pretty off-putting.

I'm fine with requiring licenses but that's pretty crappy for a report system to be set up like that with vets.
