Is this new celebration even gonna be worth going to? Disney had a good idea, but now that I have thought about it, it just doesnt seem that great of a idea for a celebration anymore. At first I was like OMG, yes, Im gonna be there, and now Im just like ugh, its just some celebration thats not even a celebration really. I mean it doesnt really involve EVERYONE like all the other celebrations have, like the 25th and this yrs - the 50th, the millennium, walts 100th bday. I mean those celebrations involved EVERYONE. But with a year of a million dreams, it involves 1 million ppl and thats all. And we all know WDW gets 1 million people in less then 6 months! So its not fair to everyone else who doesnt get a wish granted or get some extra pixiedust: Does anyone feel this way to? Do you think this "celebration" is even worth going to? Im really starting to consider canceling my august 2007 trip and just going in december 2007. At least then it will be a trip worth going to, especially since I never been to WDW for xmas.

Is this an actual celebration? With events and everything? As far as I understood, people will be picked at random to has a dream come true/wish granted, but other than that is there something else involved that I'm missing? My first trip was during the 25th anniversary and my last was during the Happiest Celebration on Earth and I don't remember them being any different (other than the castle) than my other trips.

I've been planning a trip for May 2007 since May 2005 and don't plan on changing it because of this. I don't really expect to have a dream come true (other than seeing my niece's eyes light up when she meets characters, etc.) and am not going for the purposes of getting one.

I can't think of a reason not to go, but I certainly wouldn't plan a trip around the celebration. My family has always planned their trips around when we can and want to go, not when Disney tries to lure us there with an event.

I think Disney is always worth going to, celebration or not. There doesn't need to be anything special planned to sell me on a trip.

That is exactly how I feel, too! :goodvibes

Even a "normal" day in Disney is special. We are planning a May 2007 trip and have been for 2yrs. When I heard about the YOMD, I thought cool! If our family got picked as one of the million that would be awesome, but there are over 43 million people a year walking through WDW's doors(that doesnt include all the other Disney parks all over the world), so Im certainly not going to place all my good times in May on getting picked. I plan on a having Celebration with my family weather Im one of the Million or not. You should too. If you would be happier going at Christmas( which must look amazing), than go at that time of year instead. Plan for yourself not for something that may or may not happen. Good luck and have fun whenever you go. :thumbsup2

I totally agree. Disney is Disney. I LOVE it there! :Pinkbounc :bounce:

IMHO anything Disney is always worth going to. I was just there in April and other than the castle being “blinged” we did not receive/ participate in anything special, other than really sssssssslllllllllllloooooooooowwwwwwwwwww transportation from the Swan. Next trip 95 days !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :woohoo:

From what I was told by my cousin who works in the park...
It is another theme. They come up with a theme every 12-18 months or so.

There are new attractions coming in (Monsters inc laugh floor, the updated Pirates, etc), there are also new shows and character interactions opening. The Year of A Million Dreams is like any other theme, 25th anniversary, 50th, etc. There will be lots going on for everyone to enjoy. They will be doing more cast member interactions, like riding in the front of the monorail, piloting the riverboat, etc. There will be new merchandise and events. It is not going to be something that only those that win The big prized can enjoy, they are going to be giving out smaller things all the time as well.

If you have enjoyed the other events, as you mentioned, "the 25th and this yrs - the 50th, the millennium, walts 100th bday" this really is the same, they will have stuff for everyone just like the other celebrations have, but they will be adding the dreams to that.

Well we are going Oct. 1 so I hope to have a trip report that may clear up some of the questions about A Year Of a Million Dreams. :thumbsup2

I totally agree - the different themes and celebrations are marketing techniques. If they had no celebrations, it wouldn't matter to me, I would still go when I planned on going. (although that pink cake was freaky for whatever birthday that was) I plan on going in May2007 because this is when my family is able to go. I don't need a wish or something extra to make my vacation special. After all, I will be in the Happiest Place on Earth. :goodvibes

We're not too fussed as to whats happening but we spent ages saving for our trip next year so we are excited.

We just bought Annual Passes, so we are going as many times as I can manage before the passes expire!

We are going in December because DH thought it would be neat. I am hoping to get at least 2 more trips in next year. The Million Dreams promo has nothing to do with my planning. We are not lucky people, so I can assure you that nothing out of the ordinary will happen to us. But there really isn't any difference between going during the promo and having nothing happen or going after the promo ends!

I love Disney, so any trip is a good trip. I plan more in terms of "what is the earliest I can possibly go", so putting a trip off for 7 months just to miss the promo would kill me.

Good luck with your planning!

If the one poster is correct and 43 mil go a year, then that means you have a 1 in 43 chance to win...least I think my math is right..some math genius can correct me if wrong

Course, my thought is you should stay home...less lines for me when I go :lmao:

I think that any given person has a fair chance of having a wish granted. I suspect that most of them will be really small things, and only a lucky few will get the really big giveaways. We also go because we like to go, and not because of the Celebrations AKA easy way to get publicity. It's a reason to bring in more attractions, so I don't complain. We happened to have APs during the HCOE, which meant we were lucky enough to go several times. The HCOE was not the first 'theme' we went during, but they did a really good job of making you feel like it was the biggest celebration ever. I think that the YOAMD won't be able to top it because not everyone will have their wishes granted. While the atmosphere wil be fun, not every guest actively participates in the wish granting.
