here I am planning over a year in advance so I thought I would ask you ever knowledgeable people....Here's the situation..

Many years ago my DH & I toured CB while staying @ ASMu, our conclusion was that we thought it was too spread out. Then we stayed at CSR and loved that. SO how could CB be anymore spread out than that?

Fast forward (we join DVC) but I never lose sight of the fact that my goal is to stay @ every Disney Resort (except 1) Don't ask!!! I won't rain on anyones parade!

So my dilemma is CB or POR. I haven't stayed @ either so wherever would help me in my quest to stay at all Disney Resorts.

I'd Like to put this in poll form for all the lurkers. But I am techno challenged (edited to add yeah I did it!!!) . Any & all opinions are welcomed. We will need 2 rooms so space is not an issue.

Either is location as we take every other day @ the resort.

Thanks in advance for understanding & indulging my obsession,

Lisa

If you like a tropical theme, CBR is the one to pick. I have stayed there many times and will probably go back there sometime next year. I like it because it is impeccably clean, lots of tropical plants and wild life (ducks, gecko's, turtles, rabbits, birds). There is a sand beach with Hammocks and loungers, 6 quiet pools and a main pool. We always request Jamaica because it's peaceful, the quiet pool is never too busy, and we like walking over the footbridge to OPR (in Jamaica it's about a 3-5 min. walk depending on which building you are in). It is a romantic setting. The food court is fairly decent, the bus service is very good and the rooms are roomy and brightly colored. Check out the CBR fact thread and you will be able to see photos and get even more info. I have stayed deluxe (BC/YC, AKL and this year BWI) and I still go back to CBR because I like it that much.

Looks like you have a concern about things being too spread out. POR is any easy pick over CB if that's a concern. I like 'em both- but the edge goes to POR for a more intimate, 'smaller' feel.

I don't think you can go wrong with either choice. We love CBR. I truly feel like I have escaped to the islands. I have loads of pictures of CBR to get you in the mood. Check out my website for photos.

Nothing wrong with planning over a year in advance. When we booked the land and sea package, we booked one year out. This trip, we planned 18 months out and booked 16 months out. Planning early is good, the wait is what is so hard. Uuuggghhh!! :bounce: Can't wait for the time to get here.

I have stayed at and LOVE both!!

It is really a matter of theme, We had to walk about the same at either to get to the foodcourt, which was a great 3 or 5 minute walk, no biggie at all! The resorts are spread out but set up nicely so no matter where you are its not so bad.

At POR you feel like you went back in time with the beautiful landscaping and the beautiful mansion homes or the more rustic feel of alligator bayou....we stayed in a mansion home and it was great Magnolia Place I believe. And the rooms smell like Magnolias! The landscaping is beautiful and the private pools were NEVER crowded....and the main pool is very nice, and the food court was big and charming as well with the large water wheel outside. AND you can take the baotride to Downtown Disney from here which is a very nice little ride down the river.

At CBR you will feel like you are on the islands...LUSH tropical foliage everywhere, beautiful landscaping again, we were in Jamaica and we just crossed over the bridge thru parrot Cay and we were at the main pool, bar and foodcourt...it was great! Loved the bar, pool was nicely themed, the soft caribbean music piped in added a special touch. Lots of wildlife...loved the landscaping so much we actually walked arounf the whole resort a few times. Each village has its own sand beach with hammocks (this was really cool) we used them a few times just lounging around...and also on parrot cay they have a few rocking chair/benches nestled away...it was nice getting cocoa from the foodcourt and relaxing there in the evening...

Both resorts really come to life at night, and have their own distinct charms...Sorry about the long winded post, just wanted to give you an idea of each

Now if I HAD to pick a fav between the two........ CBR.
By a HAIR!!

No need to apologize Minky! This is exactly the kind of information I was looking for. Sentiments from people who had stayed at both.

Safetymom.... Thanks for the links to your pictures... Going to take a peek right now!

Thanks for your replies everyone!

Anyone else?
