I talked DH into a new digital camera. Ours doesn't zoom and just isn't very nice. I need opinions! Something that makes quality shots and has a nice zoom feature. We take tons of pictures especially of John-Cole and all his school games. Also vacation...heck everything.

Any advice would be much appreciated!

Thanks!

We have an Olympus with an 8x optical zoom. You can really get in close for the game pics. and with the software you can enlarge and crop them to really make some nice photos. We take lots of football pics and they come out great. It was the only camera we took to WDW this year and we have some very nice shots. I have none posted any place but PM me with an Email address and I will send a few for you to see.

I have a Sony Cyber-Shot 3.2 mega pixels. It takes great pictures and is easy to use :)

Ours is a cheap Kodak. It is good for the internet, but not very good if you want to print the pics.

I have a Sony DSC-F707 with 10x zoom. The zoom feature is excellent you get really good closeups from far away. It is one of the larger cameras, though.

<font color=navy>I echo what Dan said -- check out Zurg's site. I used it, and found it to be extremely helpful when I chose my own camera - Canon S30 - which I love and is perfect for my needs.

.... oh, and congratulations on winning ... :teeth:

Have a question if I may barge in here. :)

FOR THOSE FOLKS WITH HIGH ZOOM (8x or 10X)..... do you use the full zoom WITHOUT a tripod.... or is the camera shake to bad to use without a tripod?

Just wondering, because I'm considering such a model.... but I don't want to lug a tripod to be able to USE that zoom feature. I'll settle on less zoom if that's the case.

I'm interested in your question too SM. I would love one with a large zoom range for up close sports but I don't want to use a tripod either.

I also have a limited budget probably around $300-$400. Okay I went to Zurg's sight and was confused and then was laughing at Zurg and don't think I found out anything:rolleyes: :p :p

I do not have a tripod. For daylight pics I have not needed one but somtimes at night it would be handy. Ours has a 8x zoom and I take a lot of pictures at DS football games we sometimes are up high in the stands and we have gotten some really good shots.
